This backyard and landscaping was designed by Giuseppe Abbrancati and is located in Plainview, Nassau County NY. The challenge was to deal with a very small backyard having a deep slope in a newly constructed residential site. The backyard was built in two levels, with a stoop and platform built by the sliding doors leading down to the patio area. The gunite swimming pool is built on one side and with a large patio on the opposite side, for the main dining table and bbq grill area. A set of wide stairs lead further down to the natural gas fire pit and a grass play area. A sheer descent water feature was built with 3 waterfalls and lighting accents were installed on steps and throughout the backyard. All patios and walls were paved and veneered with Moca travertine selected from the Gappsi showroom. The gunite swimming pool built by Gappsi has many options and was built with the highest quality materials and equipment. Starting with 10 inch thick gunite walls and ½ inch rebar 12 on center, 2 inch PVC plumbing for high volume water flow. The overall size of the swimming pool is 20×40. In the shallow area, a sundeck and the spa were built side by side with steps leading down in to the pool shallow area and a bench in front of the spa. LED lights were also installed, along with an automation system that allows the customer to control the lights, the water feature bubbler, spa jets, and the gas heater, with his or her smartphone. The gunite swimming pool also has a salt-chlorine generator system, an ozone system, a pressure driven Aqua clean robot pool cleaner, variable speed pumps, and an oversize cartridge filter. The finish of the pool shell consists of Pennsylvania bluestone coping for the pool and spa, and a Diamond Brite midnight blue color for the inside pool shell plaster finish. The most important feature, suggested and loved by the homeowner that was installed, is the safety automated pool cover. Being in a such tight backyard, it would have been impossible to fence the pool area to keep the their children safe, without distorting the backyard layout.
Gunite Swimming Pool & Backyard Designer in Merrick NY
This small backyard was designed by Giuseppe Abbrancati and installed by Gappsi in Merrick, Long Island NY in 2018 on a spectacular waterfront property. The layout incorporates a gunite swimming pool with a spa, corner stairs, benches, and sheer descent water features that were installed along one side of the pool facing the house. The pool also has a safety auto cover, automation system, LED lights, salt chlorine generator, and an ozone system.
The pool finish consists of Diamond Brite French Gray with tile markers installed at the edges of the steps and benches. Pennsylvania blue-stone was used for the coping and the patio was paved with Pompeii limestone selected from Gappsi showroom. A gas fire pit was installed on the circular shaped patio and Acadia Go-Green synthetic turf was used to cover the remaining yard space. The deck was modified to accommodate the new backyard layout.

Construction of Vinyl Pool in Nesconset, NY 11767, by Gappsi
This 16′ by 32′ vinyl pool was built with concrete walls and liner. The pool has steps across the full width of the shallow end and a standing ledge/two corner benches in the deep end. The pool is also equipped with an auto cover. Stoops were built by backyard sliding doors with platforms and several steps going down to the backyard level. Patio pavers and pool coping used were Griggio Dorato travertine pavers selected from the Gappsi stone collection. The travertine colors vary in grays, beige, whites, and blacks. It has a very soft marbleized style that can compliment any home sidings and backyard furniture. We have received so many compliments and one of the best and “most frequent compliments” is the backyard should be in a magazine. We love it even in the winter when the pool was closed its magnificent. Regarding the construction and all the aspects from beginning to end I can’t stress enough how “stress less” this was. From the time of our first appointments with Giuseppe right to the completion, we received everything we contracted for and more. I have been involved with construction many, many times and we never ever had to come home to find something was not done right. The excavation, pool walls, leveling, removal of dirt, trees, forms, electric, gravel delivery, stone delivery, design of patio, fireplace, outdoor kitchen walls, stone decorative walls, coping and every other piece of the project completely 100% of the time we never had a problem with the completion not being exactly as we discussed during our appointments. We had many different aspects and the crew was one of the most professional and especially expert in their trade. The pool was completed to perfection including the stairs, stone, lights, filter, heater and liner (without any wrinkles in the final installation). The electric pool cover was something we had not originally planned for and we are so happy it was explained to us. If we had not done the electric pool cover, we would constantly be cleaning and heating the pool. Again it was a slight challenge due to the extended size of the pool, but attention to every detail and research was done to be sure it would be implemented correctly. It was and it is well worth the extra cost because it saves in the long run. I would highly recommend this. Giuseppe promised to deliver the entire package with the various experts all pulling together and he did. I would more than highly recommend GAPPSI in pools, patios and any home improvement contract is works on. This is like the academy awards Giuseppe! I hope I have mentioned everyone and all aspects of the job to thank everyone involved. It was PERFECT! As I mentioned before, I have been involved in home improvement in the past and totally know how contracting can go wrong from ideas to the crew themselves.
