The inspiration for this project was conceptualized from a recent trip to Lake Maggiore in Northern Italy, according to Giuseppe Abbrancati – Gappsi president. By incorporating extra large moss rock boulders, Gappsi successfully integrated retaining walls which include dramatic waterfalls that spill into the custom free-form pool as well as another large waterfall that exits into a pond allowing year round enjoyment for the homeowners. The pool surround was chosen from the Gappsi Stone collection for its cool earth tones which create a rich contrast within the landscape.
Gappsi stones are mined from all regions of the earth. Originally limestone, these natural stones are generated from a build up of calcium in shallow bodies of water that have a high concentration of lime which creates a magnificent color variation and are remarkably cooler to the touch.
Gappsi Stones contain no iron. The particles that make the body of the stone are microscopic, thus making Gappsi Stones very dense – as much as twice the density of concrete which allow a very low absorption of water and heat. When walking bare-footed, you will appreciate the comfortable texture and sensation.
