Thinking of hiring our chessboards life-size designers?

The game of chess isn’t loved all over the world for nothing. The checkered board has a charm of its own. Only a true chess lover would know how fulfilling it is to match wits over it. If you’re also someone who wouldn’t think twice before devoting an entire day to the game, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. It’s possible to have a life-size chessboard right on your lawn or backyard. Yes, you read it right. Our designers at Gappsi are not only well-versed in your needs, but they will also leave you amazed with the results.

What Is the Origin of Giant Chess?

Chess was originally a 4-player game that people played with dice. The initial name was “shaturanga.” However, the game no longer has a gambling element now as it used to have due to the dice. Ever since the game’s introduction to Western Europe, people began meddling with the shape and style of the pieces, and the tinkering continues to this day.

Previously, people would opt for marble, wood, and stone to create large chess sets. It wasn’t until the 20th century that a German manufacturer finally mass-produced it in a giant form using plastic pieces. Over the course of years, different companies have tried coming up with different versions of the game. However, the original concept remains intact in the game.

Benefits of Playing Chess

It Improves Your Memory

It isn’t unknown that chess significantly improves your memory. It’s only justified since there are so many combinations one needs to memorize to get the potential outcomes. Now imagine taking the experience up a notch and getting your own life-size chessboard right outside your house in Nassau and Suffolk County, Long Island, NY.

Not only will the chessboard be life size but your motivation to get through the game will also be life-size. All in all, your auditory memory can improve significantly if the game is a regular part of your routine. After all, memorizing complicated chess combinations in itself is a challenging task.

Pickleball Courts With Painted Asphalt

Pickleball-Courts-With-Painted-Asphalt2Pickleball Courts With Painted Asphalt or Concrete both provide an acceptable base for the courts. Make sure to review surfacing requirements before having the base installed, as there are recommended specifications for slope, drainage, surface finish, and overall construction.

A better court equals better and safer play. These guidelines are based on collected feedback from fellow members of the pickleball community, and while your situation may differ, we offer these as a starting point for those looking to get the most out of their court and their game.

We can provide you with free estimates for Pickleball court construction & resurfacing throughout Long Island New York. Pickleball has been around for quite a few years but has recently become one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. Backyard pickleball courts are a great investment for families and friends to enjoy and have a much smaller footprint than tennis courts. Contact us today and we can perform a site visit to see if a backyard pickleball court can be built within your available space.

Do You Have A Pickleball Court And Need Resurfacing?

The process of surfacing a pickleball court varies, and may include the application of a resurfacing material and/or a cushioned material, in addition to paint for color and texture and line-striping the court boundaries. Some jobs, such as repurposing tennis courts for pickleball, may only require line-striping.

Pickleball court resurfacing should be done every 4 to 8 years, depending on a variety of factors. Overall traffic, or usage, of the sports game courts, is the main factor. However, proper construction, slope, and drainage of the pickleball courts are also very important to the longevity of the slab and pickleball court surfaces. Gappsi is experienced in resurfacing larger Pickleball court facilities with multiple courts. These are ideal for tournaments, leagues, or park systems with a large demand for pickleball. Converting tennis or basketball courts to pickleball courts is also an option if there is more demand for pickleball courts. However, we recommend adding blended lines in another color to existing courts and keeping the existing sports lines. This way you make the most of your real estate and can play all sports in the same area.

Pickleball-Courts-With-Painted-Asphalt-&-Basketball-CourtsSurface Preparation Is Key To Successful Resurfacing

The pavement surface must be cleaned entirely of dust, dirt, and debris. Repair of pavement surface defects, depressions, and cracks should be completed prior to application. All repairs must be flush and smooth to adjoining surfaces for best results. New asphalt must cure 30 days and new concrete must cure 28 days prior to application. It is recommended that any uncoated/bare surface receive one or more coats of TCS Court Resurfacer as required by surface roughness and porosity to provide a smooth, dense underlayment for the application of color coatings. Concrete surfaces should have a light broom finish or a similar roughened texture.

Interested In Cushioned Pickleball Court Surfaces?

We can also install cushioned pickleball court surfaces. You can have a premium, softer playing surface for reducing shock on the joints and body. The system consists of multiple coats of rubber-filled acrylic coatings to produce cushioned padding beneath the colored surfaces.

The acrylic resurfacer is important for courts that intend to add a cushion layer. Without the resurfacing acrylic, the rubber wants to pile up instead of grabbing onto the texture below, and the rubber in the cushion product will fill the voids so the surface won’t feel as cushioned.

Cushioned pickleball courts are created by applying multiple layers of acrylic with small rubber granules using a soft rubber squeegee. To ensure even application, we recommend pouring out the cushion product in relatively small amounts, to prevent piles of rubber at the end of the squeegee pull. After spreading the cushion acrylic, Gappsi recommends being gentle while scraping any high spots.

You Do Not Have A PickleBall Court – Plan Your Sports Game Courts

If you are constructing a pickleball court from start to finish, one of the first considerations will be the size and layout of the court.
Pickleball courts measure 44 feet long and 20 feet wide, including the court’s boundary lines. The USAPA Rule Book recommends a minimum total playing surface of 30 by 60 feet, though 34 by 64 feet is preferred. Anytime multiple courts will be in close proximity, fencing between the courts is important to protect players on other courts.

Just as with other sports courts, it is ideal to orient the court north-south to limit the sun obstructing players’ vision and the impact of shadows on the court surface.

Coloring The PickleBall Sports Game Courts

The color coating USAPA recommends 100 percent acrylic paint for outdoor courts.  The color is typically applied with a minimum of two coats. Pickleball courts are smaller and are often used for doubles so there’s more wear because the players are always scuffing the same little boxes. It may be worth adding an extra coat to extend the life of the surface.

Although tennis courts tend to be painted blue or green, the USAPA says pickleball courts can be painted any color as long as it contrasts with the lines of the court.

You want to choose a color that contrasts with the color of the pickleballs.  Pickleballs are most often yellow, orange, or lime green. Generally, colors opposite from each other improve contrast. For example, if the balls are yellow, paint the court blue.

Multiple Pickleball Courts North Hills Country Club Nassau County NY

Pickleball-Courts-With-Painted-AsphaltGappsi installed three pickleball sports game courts including a basketball court at North Hills Country Club located in Nassau County NY. This is an addition to their sports complex of tennis courts and golf courts. We utilized an asphalt base, primed, and painted the courts with asphalt paint. The courts were painted blue and color striped with white lines as well as the surrounding area in green. Our team installed 24 x 24 squared Nicolock Pavers for the patio. For the basketball court, we used asphalt primed and painted in black. The keys were colored blue and striped with white. For all surrounding areas, we installed synthetic turf, which will make this enclosed area maintenance-free. The clients are very happy; this is a beautiful installation by Gappsi.

Constructing Tennis Courts in Nassau and Suffolk County

Tennis courts designers
Gappsi’s custom tennis court in Nassau County

Tennis courts are now one of the main attractions at educational institutions and recreational centers. In fact, some people have even installed a personal tennis court in their backyard with the help of expert tennis courts designers.

A tennis court is definitely a worthy addition to a home or institution whose members would enjoy this stimulating sport. It enables you to play anytime you want and raises your property’s value and appeal to a great extent.

Want a tennis court in your backyard, school, or club? The tennis courts designers at Gappsi can plan and construct highly functional and aesthetic tennis courts in Nassau and Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. Read on to learn how the construction would work.

What Is Tennis?

Tennis is played between two players in a singles game and four players in doubles. This game involves a racquet and a ball, and the two main roles are the serving player and the opponent.

The serving player hits the ball for a point, and the opponent receives the serve (which means hitting the ball in response). A toss decides which player will serve (hit the ball first) and from what side.

The Parts of a Tennis Court

Now, let’s get an overview of a tennis court.

  • A tennis court is a rectangular flat field divided into two parts by a net. One side is for the serving player, and the other is for the opponent. Players can’t touch the net or hit the ball on it during the game.
  • Sidelines are the two boundary lines on each side of the court perpendicular to the net. The inner boundary is for the singles games, and the outer boundary is for the doubles.
  • The parallel line at the furthest distance from each side of the net is the baseline. This is where a player stands to serve.
  • The thin line between the net and the baseline on each side is the service line. Players have to aim their serves into the area between the net and the service line.
  • The mark in the middle of the baseline is the center mark. The serving player has to stand on either side of the mark to serve.
  • The total service area is vertically divided into left and right sections through a line perpendicular to the net.

Gappsi has a phenomenal team of tennis courts designers that builds custom tennis courts in Nassau and Suffolk County. They work on different bases and finishes, like synthetic turf, asphalt, concrete, etc. Therefore, they can build a tennis court precisely according to your preferences.

Factors Affecting Tennis Courts Construction in Nassau and Suffolk County

The two main aspects of a tennis court construction are dimensions and surface. While the dimensions of a tennis court remain the same worldwide, the surface of tennis courts varies from region to region.

Dimensions – The Space You Need for a Tennis Court

The first step is to think about where you want to build the tennis court. The place should have enough room for both the tennis court and its outer zones.

The length of a tennis court is 78 feet. The width depends on the variant of the game; it is 27 feet if you play singles and extends to 36 feet with the alleys for doubles. Furthermore, a net attached to two posts at the height of 3 feet in the middle divides the tennis court into two halves.

A tennis court is only 36 x 78 feet, but you must also consider the outer zones. Hence, the distance from the baseline to the fence should be at least 21 feet, and the distance from the outermost sideline to the fence should be at least 12 feet.

Custom Tennis Court Installation
A tennis court designed by Gappsi

All in all, an area of 60 x 120 feet is ideal for a tennis court.

There are four main types of tennis court surfaces: grass, clay, hard court, and carpet. Although it may not seem like a big deal, the type and quality of a tennis court’s surface is a game-changer – it greatly impacts playing style.

Gappsi masters the tennis courts construction in Nassau and Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. The following are the most common types of tennis courts surface we offer:

Hard Court

This court has a layer of concrete or asphalt as the foundation. The tennis court installer then covers the foundation with several layers of acrylic and rubber mixture, giving it a smooth surface.

This base is ideal for fast matches because it facilitates constant bounce. The ball doesn’t lose its speed when it touches the ground. Hence, aggressive baselines and players with a powerful serve benefit the most from a hard court.

Grass Court

Grass for tennis court surfaces can be natural or synthetic. In recent times, tennis court contractors in Nassau and Suffolk County are increasingly replacing natural grass with synthetic grass.

The tennis game is the fastest on a grass court, and the speed of the ball depends on the grass length. The longer the grass is, the more the ball slows down. Moreover, the ball has a very flat bounce on the grass because the soft ground works like a cushion.

Since the game is fast on a grass court, strong serve players love it the most. Serve-and-volley players also find grass courts convenient.

Gappsi uses the highest quality synthetic turf in tennis court construction, making the game even better!

Clay Court

The game runs the slowest on a clay court because the ball digs deep into the clay when it falls on the ground before bouncing back. However, the ball’s bounce on the clay court is the highest, making it quite difficult for the opponent to return. This is also why the matches are quite longer on clay courts.

Baseline players good at hitting the ball with necessary topspin and playing powerful shots from the baseline find clay courts the most suitable. On the other hand, serve-and-volley players may find it difficult to play on such a surface.

Considerations for Pickleball Court Construction in Nassau & Suffolk Counties, NY

pickleball-sports-game-court

Pickleball has been growing in popularity for a few years now. It has more than 4.8 million players throughout the U.S., making it the fastest-growing sport in the country. This sport is so popular because it’s easy to play and oh-so-fun! Today, many Americans are looking into pickleball court construction so that they can add it to their backyard. Gappsi constructs all types of custom residential and commercial pickleball courts in Nassau & Suffolk Counties, NY!

Are you looking into building a pickleball court in your backyard? Do you wish to construct a pickleball court at your country club, school, or recreational center? If yes, this guide is for you. Let’s explore what goes into constructing pickleball courts in Nassau County and Suffolk County!

What Is Pickleball?

Pickleball is essentially a paddleball sport that is a mix of table tennis, tennis, and badminton. It started as a backyard creation in 1965 when a bunch of friends could not find a shuttlecock to play badminton. It involves two or four players who use solid wood paddles. They hit a polymer ball that has 26-40 round perforations, similar to a whiffle ball, over an affixed net.

Thanks to the popularity of pickleball in the U.S., Gappsi has ample experience in pickleball court construction in Nassau & Suffolk Counties. We provide our clients with several surfaces and base materials for pickleball courts, including synthetic turfs, bluestone dust, clay, and crushed marble dust. We design our pickleball courts to fulfill your goals.

Pickleball Court Construction Considerations

Now that you know what pickleball is, let’s explore some considerations for constructing a pickleball court!

How Much Room Will You Need for a Pickleball Court?

If you wish to add a pickleball court to your property, you must ensure you have enough room for seamless pickleball court construction. With that said, Gappsi has built pickleball courts in areas where the space was smaller than a regular court. Ideally, a pickleball court is supposed to be the same size as a doubles badminton court. An official pickleball court measures 20×44 feet. The same court is used for singles and doubles play.

Pickleball Court Contractor on long Island NYYou will also have to leave some room on the sides and ends of the playing field for running off the court after playing a ball. It is why the entire court should measure at least 24×54 feet. However, if you have ample space and want to play to the most athletic level possible, go for a pickleball court that measures 30×60 feet. Moreover, if you’re setting up the court indoors, leave at least 18-20 feet of height between the net and the light fixtures.

The net height of pickleball courts is 34 inches in the middle and 36 inches on the sidelines. The stripes on the court are similar to that on a tennis court. It features a 7-foot non-volley zone situated at the front of the net (known as the kitchen.) A pickleball court also has right and left service courts. At Gappsi, you can get a new court constructed for pickleball or have your existing badminton or tennis court converted. We can also alter your current basketball court into an asphalt pickleball court.

Property-Related Considerations

When choosing a location for your pickleball court, you must consider the property’s offset requirements. Note the property lines and specific town requirements. The distance from your neighbor’s property line is based on zoning laws you don’t want to break. The court orientation should be from north to south to account for the sunrise and sunset. Your pickleball court should also have a 1% slope to ensure proper court drainage. So, you will need to understand water flow on, under, and around the court. Based on the flow, you might require additional drain installation.

At Gappsi, we offer a thorough consultation before constructing pickleball courts in Nassau & Suffolk Counties. We will discuss your vision and court specifications to ensure optimal performance, aesthetic value, and durability. So, do you need an indoor or outdoor pickleball court? Our construction specialists will provide a seamlessly designed custom solution that works for your property.

Pickleball-Court-Contractor-on-long-Island-NYLighting

You will need lights if you plan to use the pickleball court for late-night matches with friends and family. Lighting for pickleball courts follows a standard format. All courts should feature two 1,500-watt light poles. Each of them should be 18-20 feet high and center-mounted, at least 2 feet back from the court. This lighting will be enough to help you enjoy an evening or nighttime game of pickleball.

Fencing for the Court Perimeter

Fencing is essential to pickleball court construction as it keeps the ball within the playing area. It also offers security to the players and spectators. You can choose from multiple fencing varieties. With that said, fencing made from durable wire is the most common. It allows everyone to see into and out of the playing area. Moreover, a wire fence enables light and air to pass through easily. We can guide you toward suitable fencing options for your pickleball court in Nassau & Suffolk Counties.

Net Considerations

At Gappsi, we will also discuss the net system that will work best for your court. The market has different types of pickleball poles and netting systems with varied characteristics. For instance, outdoor poles are designed to withstand outdoor elements. A complete outdoor pickleball net system features two poles, one outdoor net, sleeves, and one ratchet. We will discuss your requirements and guide you toward a net system that best suits your needs.

Setting Up Your Pickleball Court

Now that you know everything that goes into a pickleball court construction, we’d advise you to seek professional help for constructing one. At Gappsi, we have experience building custom sports courts, including pickleball courts in Nassau County & beyond. Constructing Bocce Courts in Nassau & Suffolk County

Bocce-Ball-Sports-Courts-On-Long-Island-You-TubeBocce ball is a yard or lawn game played on bocce courts in the U.S. and worldwide. Perhaps the best part about this sport is that people of all ages and skillset can play it in their backyard. Gappsi has professional bocce courts designers who can construct custom bocce courts on your property in no time. Before we delve deeper into bocce court construction by our experienced contractors, let’s learn a bit about this ancient sport!

What Is Bocce?

Bocce is a sport one plays with eight weighted balls aimed at pallino or boccino, a tinier target ball. The goal of this sport is to score points by way of inching your ball closer to the pallino than your opponent’s ball. Bocce balls are larger and heavier than the balls used in croquet. That said, the significant rules of bocce have evolved over the years.

One of the best reasons to play bocce is that it’s a low-impact game. Anyone can play it, and it’s even wheelchair-accessible. Moreover, you can play it on various surfaces, and it’s pretty easy to learn. Today, bocce ball foundations and leagues track the game worldwide. It’s also one of the most widely enjoyed games in the world, most popular in Italy among retired Sicilians. There’s a bocce federation in the U.S. as well!

Bocce Ball History

Bocce ball is incredibly popular in Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, and Bosnia. It was first discovered through ancient Egyptian artwork from 5200 B.C., depicting boys playing an earlier version of the sport.

Bocce spread and reached Greece in about 600 B.C. Then, Italians picked it up. Today, people from all geographies enjoy playing bocce ball. The sport has also found traction in the U.S., especially among Italian migrants. Moreover, bocce ball has become a popular feature in Special Olympics.

Where Can You Play Bocce?

Bocce ball is played on various surfaces, including gravel, sand, grass, clay, and hard-packed dirt. You can employ our bocce courts designers’ services to create a bocce court on your grass lawn. The only requirement for a bocce court is that the surface should be level. However, if you want a professional-level court, our bocce court installer can create a regulation bocce court. We can use a level surface of grass, clay, sand, or your preferred material.

A campo or bocce court can be 75 feet long and 8 feet wide. It must be enclosed with boarded sides and ends, which are about 12 inches and 18 inches high. It ensures all the weighted balls remain in the court and can rebound from the side walls.

Bocce-Ball-Sports-Courts-On-Long-IslandA Regulation Bocce Court

You can hire Gappsi to build a regulation bocce ball court in Nassau & Suffolk County. Our bocce turf is designed to offer a top-tier, professional bocce experience. Additionally, it does not require any maintenance. We also provide our clients with customized engraved bocce balls.

Moreover, our regulation bocce courts feature two putting green holes on either end. We can design a regulation court or a custom-sized one depending on your preference. For instance, our bocce courts designers have experience installing regular courts that are 10 feet wide and 60 feet long. We can customize the size of the court based on your yard size.

Bocce Courts Designers Install Safe & Professional Turfs

Gappsi has years of experience as a supplier for sports courts in Long Island, NY. When preparing our bocce courts, we ensure the surface reduces the risk of fall injuries. Our synthetic turns offer comfortable, high-performance, and safe artificial grass for bocce. We also use a rubberized underlay to lessen the impact of falls. If you want realistic synthetic turf on your court, Gappsi has the finest, highest-grade turf for its sports courts.

When building a bocce court, you must be mindful of three things – material, moisture, and grade. Gappsi uses synthetic turf, arguably the best material for bocce courts. Other materials used for these courts include crushed oyster shells, short grass, sand, and decomposed granite.

We design our courts to minimize bounce for easy play. Moreover, moisture can ruin the court surface. We use an appropriate drainage system to ensure the court remains as dry as possible. Lastly, our bocce courts designers install flat court surfaces for all projects. This way, the weighted balls or boccino don’t end up in the same corner and stay in place. We also add a high border to keep the balls within the court.

Engraved-Custom-Bocce-Balls-Gappsi-long-island-scaled-1Why Gappsi Uses Synthetic Grass for Its Bocce Courts

Are you wondering why our contractors use synthetic grass for bocce court surfaces? The truth is that synthetic grass turf cuts down on the maintenance and upkeep of the court. We construct our premium bocce courts with a recycled concrete base, 6×6 pressure-treated railroad ties, and top-quality synthetic turf.

Other court constructions replace the turf with 2 inches of bluestone dust, which requires regular maintenance. The bluestone rocks trap leaves, petals, dust, etc. It also requires annual respreading. However, our synthetic turn requires the bare minimum maintenance.

Even though this bocce court construction costs more than a typical court in Long Island, NY, it proves to be cost-effective. When debris like leaves falls on the court, you can clean it with a blower. Since the court surface does not require regular maintenance, it will not cost you a lot to maintain in the long run. Furthermore, since we install the court on a concrete pad, the synthetic turf is playable throughout the seasons. It never requires raking or rolling.

That said, if you want our bocce courts designers to use bluestone dust, clay, or crushed marble dust, we can use them to construct your court. We design all our bocce courts in Nassau & Suffolk County to satisfy our client’s needs.

Brick Pavers Basketball Sports Game Courts

Brick Pavers Basketball Sports Game Courts

Brick-Pavers-Basketball-Sports-Game-Courts2Brick Pavers Basketball Sports Game Courts are a great choice but not the only one when designing your space.  There are a number of factors that go into building a sports game courts: budget, local zoning laws, and your property design.

Common Sports Game Courts Materials

♦  Asphalt: The most affordable option for having a basketball sports game courts is an asphalt pad with painted lines. The material costs are the least expensive as well as the installation due to cutting out the expense of having the court painted.

Some people have concerns about the durability of unpainted asphalt. It’s been our experience that as long as you don’t have large trees with big tree roots near the court you should be fine and will avoid the potential for big cracks. As for wear and tear, a sports court will not experience the same traffic as your driveway so its longevity will be much longer than your standard driveway.

This is the best material for a driveway basketball court. It’s softer and more forgiving on the body than on other surfaces. For best results, install when the weather is warm and the ground is dry.

The court can be asphalt, and the edging can be brick pavers, beautifying the look of the court also.

♦  Concrete: This surface can be slippery and not as soft, making it less desirable for competitive basketball use. In cold climates, the concrete can crack and heave, making it unsafe.  Concrete is a common driveway material, works for family-fun basketball, and lasts about 30 years.

Much like an asphalt pad, a concrete pad with painted lines is more affordable than one that’s painted due to cutting out the painting process.  The concrete looks nicer but the asphalt plays nicer.

♦  Hard-packed Gravel w/ Mateflex– Many towns, especially in the Northeast, have strict zoning laws which regulate the amount of non-permeable coverage your property can have. If your town will not allow you to have a non-permeable court, then a hard-packed gravel court with Sports Courts tiles may be your best and only option.

If you’re looking for aesthetics, sports game courts tiles look unbelievably beautiful.

Brick Pavers offer a smooth playing surface!

♦  Brick Pavers: Flat pavers can make for a smooth playing surface. They come in many colors and can be replaced if stained or broken. In addition, you can build basketball court lines, such as the free-throw line, right into the design by using different-colored pavers.  What we like about it the most is it compliments your property more than any other option. Not that the other options don’t. It’s just that a brick paver basketball sports courts really looks nice, especially if you already have a paver patio.

What you get with this is a brick paver patio with the basketball court lines cut out and replaced with different colored bricks. The aesthetics of this are awesome. The athletics of it aren’t bad either.

◊  Maintenance: Basketball play should not result in any additional maintenance for the driveway, and the hoop structure should require little maintenance. If you see rust, remove it right away and check the warranty that came with your system. A quality system should last a lifetime.

◊  Permit: A permit is not typically required, but you should always check the rules in your area, as well as your homeowner’s association if you belong to one. People may think they can’t have a hoop because of their homeowner’s association.  But in many cases, they are allowed, or you can file for an exception. You almost always get one.

◊  Extras: Go beyond the hoop and driveway by adding some helpful extras. These are the most popular:

  • Stenciling kit: The kit includes a pattern and paint to add a 3-point line, free-throw line, lane, baseline, and more.
  • Pole pad: This cushion around the pole eases any collisions while playing and can be customized with vinyl lettering.
  • Lights: LED lamps to illuminate your driveway and allow you to play basketball at night.
  • Ball Containment: A net or fence stops the ball from going into the bushes, down a hill, over a fence, or into the neighbor’s yard.

The most common courts built using asphalt are basketball, tennis, pickleball, and volleyball sports game courts.

Does Asphalt Require Maintenance?

Asphalt flooring is used for commercial and municipal locations, but also for residential and private backyards.  One of the great features of asphalt is that it does not require maintenance.

When asphalt is first installed it is black in color, then with time it weathers into a grayish color. The ground can be sealed, or it can also be painted with special asphalt paint in your desired colors, and striped to outline the court regulation lines. When a court is painted, the texture can become smoother causing it to get a little slippery. It is recommended that a slip-resistant product is mixed in with the paint before it is applied to the asphalt sports game court. Gappsi, your professional asphalt basketball court company, can create the court of your dreams at a great price, value, and top-quality construction.

Basketball-Court-Contractors-Suffolk-County-NY1How Are Basketball Courts Paved?

  • We use sports court paving best practices for basketball court construction and installation.
  • Grading: Grading is done to ensure your basketball court is on a level surface.
  • Grading: The surface will be graded to ensure the basketball court is level.
  • Draining and Drying: Draining and drying prevent moisture intrusion in the base/foundational areas supporting the basketball court.
  • Laying Aggregate: We lay aggregate to stabilize the soft ground underneath the basketball court.
  • Paving Court Layers: The size and depth of layers vary according to the dimensions of your basketball court. Layers usually include crushed stone, subbase, binder, top mix, and more aggregate. There’s some variation according to the type and condition of the ground itself. Our paving teams will determine the right combination of each component for smoothness, stability, and structural strength.
  • Our team will level and pave the ground first.  The second step then is to apply the color system and striping; usually, a multiple-coat acrylic court flooring is applied. This flooring has all the necessary markings to orient players for a game so each game can go off without a hitch.

We can measure and pave basketball courts according to regulation dimensions so everyone can have fun as well as play by the rules of their favorite game. As with all our paving services, Gappsi installs basketball sports game courts according to the highest standards and required codes for construction and paving. You can choose Gappsi with peace of mind.

Tennis-Court-Construction-on-Long-Island2How Much Room Do You Need For A Tennis Court?

If you want to add a tennis court to your property, make sure you have enough room for the tennis court construction. We have built tennis courts in locations where the available space was slightly smaller than the normal regulation-size tennis court. A regulation doubles-size tennis court takes a minimum of 60′ by 120′. The property’s offset requirements need to be considered when designing and choosing the location of the sports game court.  The property lines and town requirements are important to note because the distance from your neighbor’s property line is governed by zoning laws and regulations adopted by homeowners associations or town / village laws.

Orientation is ideal in a north to south direction to account for the sunrise in the morning and set in the late afternoon
Outdoor courts need a 1% slope to permit proper court drainage. It is imperative to consider the direction and ease in which water flows over, under, and around your court. Depending on the ease of flow, your court may require additional drain installation to facilitate the drainage process

At Gappsi our designers will do a court consult with you on your visions and specifications for your court and build a court for optimum performance durability, and aesthetics. Whether you desire indoor or outdoor tennis sports game courts, the construction specialists at Gappsi will seamlessly implement the design to fit perfectly with your property for endless family fun for years to come.  The results are a personalized custom solution that meets your family or facility’s specific needs.

Concrete Wall Vinyl Liner Pool In Centereach NY

Concrete Wall Vinyl Liner Pool In Centereach NY

Gappsi designed a 20 x 40 Concrete Wall Vinyl Liner Pool located in Centereach NY.  The concrete walls are naturally of cement, but the floor is dirt.  Added in a thin layer of vermiculite over it and a thin layer of foam separating the liner from the wall of cement.

Vinyl Lined Concrete Wall Pools are very strong and offer a wide amount of shapes.  Vinyl liners offer a wide selection of colors and patterns to choose from. After many years of use, vinyl liners can be replaced when they wear out or when you are ready for a new look.

So what is a Concrete Wall Vinyl Liner Pool?

The process for constructing a Concrete Wall Vinyl Liner pool is unique and requires a more sophisticated pool builder to do it right. Once the excavation of your swimming pool is completed, Gappsi assembles forms that make up the shape of your pool. The area inside these forms is lined with steel rebar and then filled with concrete. When the concrete hardens the forms are removed and what’s left is the strongest and most durable vinyl liner pool construction available today. The best part about every Gappsi Concrete Wall Vinyl Liner pool is that all the walls, steps, sun decks, and benches are made from concrete. All of the benefits of owning a Concrete Wall Vinyl Liner pool are seen throughout the entire pool structure.

Gappsi does not use the industry standard white plastic steps with any Concrete Wall Vinyl Liner pool we build, you receive the unique look of vinyl-covered steps, sun decks, and benches.

The patio surrounding the Concrete Vinyl Liner Pool consists of G044 Limestone selected from the Gappsi Stone Collection. A two-inch thick coping for the pool and a french pattern for the patio was used. To add to the outdoor of the home and to help enjoy those warm summer nights Gappsi built a sitting wall for the firepit area perfect for roasting marshmallows while catching fireflies!

Basketball Sports Game Courts

Gappsi also built a 60×40 basketball sports game courts in the backyard.  We are Long Island’s Basketball Sports Game Courts Installation Expert serving Nassau and Suffolk County NY. Sports Game Courts Tiles – Polypropylene Floors

Polypropylene tiles are what Gappi uses to create the Sports Game Courts.  The home in Centereach used one stripe with white and two-tone tiles. The gray for the field and black for the border and the keys. We also striped two shuffleboards one on each side of the court.

Our Sports Game Court’s are an excellent multi-sport athletic surface, appropriate for a wide variety of backyard and recreational activities. Gappsi Sports Game Courts backyard basketball court removes all those concerns!  A sports court also provides a convenient spot for your kids to engage in regular, daily practice if they decide to play sports for their local basketball team or club.

Synthetic Grass Turf

In the surrounding area of the pool patio and the basketball court, Gappsi installed synthetic grass turf.  Synthetic grass manufacturers have been designing better artificial turf.  As modern technology has allowed plastic grass to be made more realistic. Fake grass might sound not as natural, but wait til you consider the benefits that synthetic grass turf.  It gives to the environment you might come to realize something different.  Artificial grass is better than natural grass.  Consider the maintenance of running lawn movers through your backyard and running water to keep it green.

Synthetic grass cost is based on the size of the job and also the degree of difficulty for the synthetic turf installation. The turf is used for putting greens, dog runs, or hills where the real grass would not grow. Synthetic grass turf putting greens and artificial lawns are becoming more popular because of the little maintenance they offer.  In areas such as the Southwest where the weather is very hot and water is scarce Synthetic grass lawns are very popular and more accepted. Many high-rise rooftops use fake grass turf and also small residential backyards have adopted this revolutionary product.
