This stunning putting green installation in Long Island, NY, measures approximately 45 feet long by 25 feet wide. Gappsi’s professional team designed it to provide an authentic playing experience while complementing the property’s natural landscape.

The base of the green consists of a 1-inch gravel foundation, which ensures proper drainage and stability. On top, we installed ⅜-inch bluestone chips, creating a compact, even layer ideal for turf installation. These materials form the backbone of a smooth, durable, and resilient putting surface.

Realistic Performance with Synthetic Turf Technology

To achieve the perfect combination of realism and performance, Gappsi used multicolor synthetic turf for the putting surface. This premium turf looks and feels like real grass, offering the same smooth ball roll and consistent speed golfers expect from a professional green.

Around the perimeter, we installed a 1¼-inch taller fringe turf, adding visual contrast and functional play space for short chips and putts. The fringe creates a soft, natural border that enhances the putting area’s appearance while providing a realistic transition between green and landscape.

View our latest traditional pavilion with Passion Spa, built on the unused sloped backyard of this home in Commack, New York.

Unused sloped backyard areas can be transformed into usable spaces by incorporating terraced gardens, retaining walls, rock gardens, or even dedicated planting zones that utilize the slope for varied plant life. This will manage potential erosion issues and create distinct levels within the yard, turning a challenging slope into a visually appealing and functional outdoor space.

This recent project, designed and built by Gappsi in Commack, N.Y., involved using the unused sloped backyard area and making it very useful.

  • Slope Severity:  The degree of slope will determine the type of structures needed, with steeper slopes requiring more substantial retaining walls.
  • Drainage: Ensure proper drainage to prevent water accumulation and erosion, especially in areas with heavy rainfall.
  • Sunlight Exposure: Consider how the slope affects sunlight exposure when choosing plants for different areas.

We built a multi-level retaining wall using the Nicolock Granite City Firma wall. The first level creates a flat area for the 18×36 traditional pavilion with the Roman pattern G045 natural blue-gray limestone patio floor from the Gappsi Natural Stone Collection.

Adding a conventional pavilion to your backyard provides a dedicated, covered outdoor space that protects you from the elements while enhancing the aesthetic appeal of your yard. Custom Traditional Pavilion with Passion Spa Designed and Built By Gappsi

The 18 x 36 pavilion was built with a bare wood ceiling stained mahogany.  An audio system and electrical heating system were also installed so that people could enjoy year-round entertainment.  Behind the TV wall, we created an area with a door in the back for additional storage.  The wall was veneered with silver travertine tumbled, and the TV was hung on the wall.

Steps on both sides of the patio access the pavilion area, also used as a ping-pong area. This is the latest masonry-designed sports court and pavilion incorporated into an entire abandoned area. It became the most helpful part of the backyard. It is the newest project built by Gappsi in Commack, NY.

Gappsi recently designed and installed a rooftop putting green in Long Beach, Long Island. The first step is spreading the bluestone gravel, which is applied on top of the Merafi paper. Next, we will install the synthetic turf fringe. Synthetic turf fringe is a section of artificial grass that connects a putting green to the fairway and is also known as the “apron” or “collar.”

Why Do You Need Synthetic Turf Fringe

  • Purpose: It connects the green to the fairway, prevents the ball from rolling off, and provides stability and protection to the putting green.
  • Height – Usually 1–2 inches tall, but is customizable.
  • Width—This can vary depending on the space, but it can be as narrow as 6 inches or several feet wide.

Sports Game Courts

In front of the showroom, we displayed a miniature bocce ballcourt. Our bocce sports game courts are built with synthetic wood that will not warp.  Using synthetic wood sides, there are no exposed nails and no maintenance. In addition, the synthetic turf used is made specifically for bocce ball courts.

Come down to view our Dominator basketball sports game court with a double horn lights setup.  On display are the Metaflex tiles used for outdoor or indoor sports game court flooring.  Mateflex is a modular sports game court flooring company that makes tiles designed for durability and performance. Mateflex tiles are intended to combine the comfort of a soft court with the durability of a hard court.  Gappsi is an authorized dealer of Mateflex Sports Tiles.  They are the premier manufacturer of basketball court flooring, volleyball court surfaces, tennis court resurfacing options, and other courts for sports.

On one side we displayed adjustable netting used for multiple sports. The netting can be adjusted for pickleball, badminton, tennis, or volleyball.  We even have batting cages!  Check out our cages that use specific netting and fake grass.

Home pizza ovens are the latest craze to add to your outdoor kitchen setup.  Gappsi offers its own line of pizza ovens and builds these ovens in-house.  A backyard pizza oven will elevate your outdoor gatherings. Wood-fired or gas, enjoy authentic homemade pizzas at home. Gappsi can add a stainless steel flue pipe to make it go through the roof when under a canopy or covered structure. These ovens can be built on-site and customized with your name engraved on the oven.
