We recently built a custom basketball court in Southampton, NY.  At Gappsi, we specialize in creating beautiful and functional outdoor living spaces, and one of our latest projects is a perfect example of craftsmanship, creativity, and attention to detail. Recently, we had the pleasure of designing and installing a custom basketball court in Southampton, NY, built to fit the homeowner’s unique space and style preferences. Using high-quality Mateflex tiles, a Dominator basketball hoop, and carefully planned design features, this court is not only practical for play but also a stunning addition to the property.

The court includes a 3-point line, although it was slightly scaled down to fit the available space. This gives the homeowners and their guests the whole basketball experience.  Shooting, dribbling, and gameplay while making the most of the property layout.

For this installation, we first prepared an asphalt base, ensuring a smooth and solid surface for durability. The Dominator 72-Inch Adjustable Basketball Hoop

A court is only as good as the hoop that goes with it. For this installation, we installed a Dominator 72-inch basketball hoop, one of the top choices for residential courts.

One of the challenges of building a backyard court is keeping the ball contained. To solve this, we surrounded the Southampton court with out-of-bounds netting on three sides. This netting ensures that basketballs stay within the play area, reducing the chance of lost balls and protecting the surrounding property.

In addition to functionality, aesthetics were also a priority for this project. We built a Cumaru wood wall on one side of the court. While the netting provides containment, the Cumaru wall offers a warm, natural design element that complements the outdoor setting. Cumaru wood, known for its durability and rich color, serves as both a functional barrier and a beautiful architectural feature.

Synthetic Fringe for a Finished Look

Attention to detail is what truly elevates a project. To complete the basketball court design, we added a 1-foot-wide synthetic turf fringe around the entire perimeter. This not only frames the court beautifully but also provides a clean, polished transition from the playing surface to the surrounding landscape. The turf creates a softer edge, reducing dirt and debris from tracking onto the court, while enhancing the overall visual appeal.

Pickleball Court Built in Glen Head NY

Gappsi recently built a pickleball sports game court in Glen Head NY. The Pickleball court was installed using a recycled concrete base and three and a half inches (3 1/2 inches) of compacted asphalt, then painted with California Sports Surfaces court paint.

We used a dark blue for the Pickleball court area and a dark green for the out-of-bounce area. The court was striped with white lines to finish it.  

We installed an adjustable Dominator multisport court netting. For this application, we adjusted the net for Pickleball. The client wanted the court to be just for Pickleball.  However, the extension can always be added to adjust the netting to be badminton or volleyball.

Our team installed an all-aluminum adjustable Dominator basketball hoop. The Dominator Hoop is a professional-grade, in-ground basketball hoop perfect for your home driveway, backward, playground, or more.

Basketball Court Installation in Brentwood NY

Our team built this 30 x 30 basketball court in Brentwood NY. We installed a 6 x 9 Golden Brown Nicolock border for the perimeter to reinforce the asphalt base of the court.  The basketball court was painted with California asphalt paint.  We painted on two coats of base paint and two coats of color.

The court was painted dark blue and the key with a lighter blue.  Our team then stripped the court’s white lines and added the owner’s son’s initials on the court.
