At Home Lacrosse Field with Synthetic Turf Dix Hills NY

View Gappsi’s YouTube Channel for Videos of At Home Lacrosse Field with Synthetic Turf in Dix Hills, NY

Lacrosse is one of the fastest-playing, hardest-hitting games around; why not build an at-home lacrosse field with synthetic turf? You can expect ball speeds up to 100 mph flying through the air, hitting the ground at various angles, and lots of running. That means the key to keeping lacrosse players protected and performing their best is a safe, durable playing surface that can stand up to the most challenging and fastest hits game after game.

Home Lacrosse Field with Synthetic Turf

In our recent project in Dix Hills, N.Y., our team built a miniature lacrosse field in a private backyard. We installed porcelain tiles diagonally to lead to the driveway’s entrance and added 4-inch strips of synthetic turf between the tiles.

Porcelain paver stepping stones and artificial turf can be a low-maintenance way to create a lush, natural-looking outdoor space.  One of our favorite low-maintenance elements to add to any artificial grass project is paving stones. Whether that comes as spaced-out stepping stones between the turf, a paving stone patio, or a walkway, it gives your yard more functionality and adds another dimension. In recent years, the hardscaping industry has increased in designs, materials, and tools. People used to think of paving stones as a monotonous pattern of bricks, but today, it has become an art form, and we have embraced that here at Gappsi.at-home-lacrosse-field-with-synthetic-turf-dix-hills-ny1

For your next project, consider adding paving stones to your backyard because they are better suited to higher-traffic areas (compared to artificial grass). The only real limitation of synthetic turf is that it tends to develop a “wear pattern,” in which you can see more wear from the high-traffic areas. For example, adding stepping stones or a pathway would make sense if you always walk a particular path to your car or garage.

Strengthen Your Short Game with a Putting Green

Imagine the freedom of your backyard or basement putting green—perhaps a mini hole or short course. Practicing is convenient, and let’s face it now: your house looks extraordinary. We installed a putting green in the corner using Radici synthetic turf. Radici Sport develops and manufactures innovative artificial turf for the professional and amateur sports world and landscape applications, ensuring high reliability and long-term performance. Radici Synthetic grass is 100% made in Italy, and Gappsi imports it directly from the manufacturer.  Gappsi designs and constructs custom residential and commercial golf greens using high-quality, durable, artificial turf. We deliver an unrivaled experience that combines exceptional performance and elevated aesthetics.

Dominator Double Horn Light for Your Home Lacrosse Field with Synthetic Turf

We installed the Dominator Double Horn Light. This light setup illuminates the entire field at night, just like daylight. The Dominator square aluminum light pole enhances visibility with quality outdoor court lighting. Illuminate your playing field with Dominator LED lights to experience extended playtime and optimal brightness.

The key features of the Dominator Double Light series include:
  • Durable Construction: Built with high-strength aluminum extrusion housing and impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses, these light bars are designed to withstand harsh conditions.
  • Water and Dust Resistance: They are IP67 rated, offering protection against water and dust intrusion, making them suitable for off-road adventures.
  • Beam Options: Available in spot, flood, or combination beam patterns to suit various lighting needs.
  • Mounting Flexibility: Equipped with both side and bottom mounting options and stainless steel hardware for versatile installation.
  • Longevity: Featuring a 50,000-hour life rating, ensuring long-term performance.

Out-of-Bounds Netting (or out-of-play netting)

As part of the installation for the in-home lacrosse field, we installed out-of-bounce netting behind the goal net to prevent the ball from going next door. We also striped the court with permanent white lines.

Out-of-bounds netting (or out-of-play netting) is used in various sports and recreational activities to enhance safety, improve the spectator experience, and protect property. Here’s why it’s commonly used:

1. Safety – Protect Spectators: In sports like baseball, hockey, lacrosse, and golf, balls or pucks can fly at high speeds. Netting acts as a barrier to prevent injuries.  You also protect players.  Netting can prevent stray balls from interfering with play or hitting players in training areas or fields.
2. Improved Gameplay – Maintain Focus by keeping balls or other equipment within the play area; netting reduces interruptions and ensures smoother gameplay.  Defined Boundaries: Netting marks the out-of-bounds area, making it easier for players and referees to judge play.
3. Property Protection – Prevents damage to nearby property, such as cars, windows, or other structures, especially in urban or community settings.
4. Enhanced Spectator Experience – Fans can watch the game without worrying about being struck by stray balls or pucks, making the experience safer and more enjoyable.
5. Compliance with Regulations – Many sports leagues and venues must install netting to comply with safety regulations and reduce liability risks.
6. Cost-Effectiveness – Reducing incidents of damage or injury can save money in the long term by minimizing lawsuits, medical costs, and repairs.

Out-of-bounds netting balances safety and visibility, ensuring players and spectators enjoy the game with minimal risk.

Pickleball Sports Game Courts with Out of Bounce Netting System | Queens, N.Y

View Gappsi’s YouTube Channel for Videos of Pickleball Sports Game Courts with Out of Bounce Netting Systems | Queens, N.Y

When building a pickleball sports game court with out of bounce netting system, selecting the right surface material is essential for playing at the highest level. The surface affects the court’s playability, safety, and maintenance.

Surface Material and Construction

The choice of surface material greatly affects the court’s playability and maintenance. Asphalt and concrete are the most common materials used for pickleball courts, each with advantages and disadvantages. Asphalt is more affordable and offers a softer surface, while concrete provides a more durable and low-maintenance option. Regardless of the material chosen, it’s essential to ensure a smooth finish to prevent injuries and enhance the playing experience.

Asphalt is a popular choice for pickleball courts due to its durability and cost-effectiveness. It provides a hard, smooth surface that is ideal for fast-paced games.

Asphalt courts can withstand heavy use and weather conditions, making them a long-lasting option.

pickleball-sports-game-courts-with-out-of-bounce-netting-system-queens-n.yAsphalt Pickleball Sports Game Court Pros:

  • Durability: Asphalt is highly durable and can last many years with proper maintenance.
  • Cost-effective: Compared to other surface materials, asphalt is relatively inexpensive.
  • Low Maintenance: Asphalt courts require minimal maintenance, usually limited to occasional cleaning and resurfacing.

Asphalt Pickleball Sports Game Court Cons:

  • Hard Surface: The hardness of asphalt can be tough on players’ joints, especially during extended play.
  • Heat Absorption: Asphalt absorbs heat, making the surface hot and potentially uncomfortable during sunny days.

Concrete is another durable and long-lasting surface material for pickleball courts. It provides a hard, smooth playing surface similar to asphalt but with a few distinct differences.

Concrete Pickleball Sports Game Court Pros:

  • Longevity: Concrete courts can last for decades if properly maintained.
  • Smooth Surface: Concrete provides an even and consistent playing surface.
  • Stability: Concrete is less likely to develop cracks or deformities than asphalt.

Concrete Pickleball Sports Game Court Cons:

  • Cost: Concrete is more expensive to install than asphalt.
  • Hard-on Joints: Like asphalt, the hard surface of concrete can be tough on players’ joints.
  • Maintenance: While concrete is durable, any cracks that do develop can be more challenging to repair.

pickleball-sports-game-courts-with-out-of-bounce-netting-system-queens-n.y-1Pickleball Sports Game Courts with Out of Bounce Netting System Queens, N.Y.

In our recent project in Queens, N.Y., we installed two pickable courts over the existing asphalt tennis court area with two other tennis courts left existing.

We used part of the existing tennis courts and installed Mateflex tiles over the asphalt to build two pickleball sports game courts. The Mateflex tile features a narrow gauge rib system for quick drainage, high traction, and good ball bite (less skid), which is ideal for tennis court resurfacing. This is comparable to using a narrow gauge racquet string. Even after many years of wear and tear, these ribs will maintain the same width and, therefore, the same playing speed.

Each Mateflex tile has 32 individual interlocks and surrounding modules for superior court integrity. The interlocking tile is firm for a stable playing platform and reinforced for exceptional strength and longevity, which is necessary for any tennis or pickleball court design.

Why Choose Mateflex Sport Game Court Tiles

  • Experience – Matéflex has provided high-quality solutions since 1974 as the oldest American modular tile manufacturer.
  • Quality – We won’t settle for anything less than the highest standards for materials and manufacturing. We supervise our molding process, so we always control quality.
  • Performance – Our products are engineered to enhance comfort and performance and will show in your players’ games.
  • Safety – Matéflex products were developed with injury prevention in mind.
  • Durability – Protect your investment by choosing long-lasting flooring products.
  • Ease – Every Matéflex product was designed to be portable, low-maintenance, and cost-effective.
  • Service – We provide outstanding support from design to installation and throughout the life of your court.
  • Comfort – We provide outstanding support from design to installation and throughout the life of your court.

Pickleball Court Lines and Marking

The client chose maroon red for the outer court perimeter and royal blue for the pickleball insert.  In addition, we installed out-of-bounce netting with aluminum poles to separate the two courts to help contain the balls within each court.

Sports netting, also known as ball stop netting, keeps balls in play and out of spectator areas to protect players, spectators, and property. Netting provides players an extra layer of safety, allowing them to play confidently. It also keeps balls from flying into areas where spectators could be injured. Netting prevents balls from traveling into areas that could cause damage and aids in maintaining consistent play.  Sports game court netting also keeps the balls within the boundaries, ensuring fair competition.

pickleball-sports-game-courts-with-out-of-bounce-netting-system-queens-n.y-2Out-of-bounds netting can be custom-built to fit any size space and is made from durable materials that can withstand heavy impacts and harsh weather conditions.

Pickleball sports game court netting by Dominator was installed, which can also be extended higher for playing a volleyball game.

Synthetic Turf for Sports Game Court Fringe

Our team installed synthetic turf fringe all around the court. It is also a visual border as a transition from the Mateflex polypropylene tile to the lower asphalt base.

The second tennis court will eventually be remodeled into a new tennis court, or we might put pickable courts sideways. The clients will use this for now and decide whether to keep the old tennis court or add more pickable courts and possibly a putting green. This is the latest sports game court installation done by Gappsi in Queens, NY.

Gappsi’s artificial grass for rooftops has been installed in playgrounds, urban residential building rooftops, recreational areas, and more. The lightweight synthetic grass is the perfect maintenance-free solution for rooftop areas.

Are you craving a unique outdoor sanctuary, perhaps a place to relax and practice golf while enjoying a fantastic view away from the hustle and bustle? Converting your rooftop to a putting green with artificial turf could be your perfect solution.

It can be a serene retreat and a visually stunning addition to your complex if done right!

1. Plan For Safety – First and foremost, ensure your rooftop can bear the additional weight of your golf haven. Seek professional help to assess the structural integrity. Once confirmed, design the putting green cautiously to ensure proper safety measures. This could include installing barriers or railings for accident prevention.

2. Utilize Space Wisely—Rooftop spaces can vary significantly in size. Strategic use of available space is crucial regardless of your rooftop’s dimensions. If space is tight, try a minimalist approach, focusing on one or two golf holes and a small seating area. If the location allows, consider a larger green or incorporate a few obstacles for added challenge.

3. Consider Drainage—Good drainage is essential to keeping your rooftop green in top shape. Ensure the base below the artificial turf is designed for efficient drainage. Using turf that allows rapid permeability will prevent waterlogging and increase the lifespan of your green.

4. Choose High-Quality Artificial Turf – Quality matters, especially regarding the artificial turf you install. Opt for top-quality artificial greens replicating the feel of real grass golf greens. They’ll provide the ball roll accuracy and durability that a golf enthusiast appreciates.  The quality of the artificial turf you choose heavily influences the green’s playability and durability. Opt for top-quality, low-maintenance artificial grass. It might cost more initially, but it will save time, effort, and long-term satisfaction.

roof-top-putting-green-installation-long-beach-ny3Rooftop Putting Green Installation, Long Beach, N.Y.

Gappsi recently designed and installed a rooftop putting green in Long Beach, Long Island. The first step is spreading the bluestone gravel, which is applied on top of the Merafi paper. Next, we will install the synthetic turf fringe. Synthetic turf fringe is a section of artificial grass that connects a putting green to the fairway and is also known as the “apron” or “collar.”

Why Do You Need Synthetic Turf Fringe

  • Purpose: It connects the green to the fairway, prevents the ball from rolling off, and provides stability and protection to the putting green.
  • Height – Usually 1–2 inches tall, but is customizable.
  • Width—This can vary depending on the space, but it can be as narrow as 6 inches or several feet wide.
  • Installation – It should be cut perfectly to blend seamlessly with the putting green.
  • Benefits – Durable, weather-resistant, and can create a realistic play experience.

The rooftop putting green installation in Long Beach, N.Y., was completed on the second floor over a parking garage. We added flower beds to accent the putting green curves.  Creating an impressive landscape around your synthetic putting green is an excellent way to enhance your outdoor space’s aesthetic appeal. Surrounding your putting green with various plantings is a classic landscaping idea.  Choose low-growing perennial flowers, ornamental grasses, or ground covers to create a beautiful and natural-looking boundary that visually separates your green from the rest of your space.

roof-top-putting-green-installation-long-beach-ny2The putting green has a very beautiful undulation. Although it is difficult to see from the images posted, bumps and gullies have been added to create a golf course feel.

We installed the putting green grass and the Gappsi Dreamy 35 (1.5 Pile Height) for the fringe. This project was done for Engel Burman, an apartment complex on Long Beach’s water. We installed five cups and flags and outlined the flower beds with aluminum metal edging. This is the latest sports game court installation completed in Long Beach, NY.

Synthetic Sports Turf Replacement | Athletic Field Complex Long Island NY

View Gappsi’s YouTube Channel for Videos on Synthetic Sports Turf Replacement |
Gappsi Long Island, NY

There comes a time in the lifespan of all sports fields when they begin to age and wear out. This recent indoor soccer field job in Ronkonkoma, NY, was installed initially and completed 20 years ago.  Sometimes, a sports field requires some maintenance to be restored to the glory days of its former self. The technology of the synthetic surface we use on sports fields today is remarkably different from that used just five years ago. Gappsi can introduce sports field owners to new synthetic turf technology to make older sports fields appear new again.

Our artificial turf sports fields are durable, dependable, safe, and suitable indoors and outdoors. This synthetic option offers unlimited play, low maintenance, and performance found only in the best-kept grasses. Our proven sports field turf grass surfaces are ideal for soccer fields, football fields, baseball fields, multi-purpose fields, lacrosse fields, field hockey fields, bocce courts, croquet courts, and more.

Benefits of Gappsi’s Synthetic Turf Grass

Consistent Performance: Our field turf provides a consistent and reliable playing surface suitable for heavy use and all weather conditions. This makes it an ideal choice for use year-round in sports fields.

Durable: Our field turf is made from synthetic fibers that are resistant to wear and tear, making it long-lasting and cost-effective. It is also low maintenance, requiring minimal effort to keep your sports field in excellent condition.

Environmentally Friendly: Besides its practical benefits, our field turf is also environmentally friendly. Synthetic turf requires less water and maintenance than natural grass, making it a sustainable choice for all sports fields.

synthetic-sports-turf-replacement1We Make Synthetic Turf Removal Look Easy

Synthetic turf significantly affects game performance and user comfort. The turf’s elastic memory and fiber structure tend to deteriorate over time due to play. When this happens, the turf must be replaced to avoid injuries and ensure perfect playability.

Artificial turf fields are robust and can take a beating for quite some time, but nothing lasts forever. After years of heavy use, you will see signs on and around the field suggesting you should consider replacing the turf field playing surface.

Here are some of the “red flags” to look out for:

  • Inlays and seams start loosening up and need repair more frequently
  • The turf field surface color fades from bright green to grey-green
  • Loose turf fibers scattered around the pitch, infill granules piling up on the sides of the turf field
  • An uneven overall look and splitting turf fibers all around the field

Removing artificial grass is a process. To get started, you need a team of highly skilled professionals and a range of equipment. Gappsi has streamlined this process over the years and is one of the most reliable companies on Long Island.

Synthetic Sports Turf Replacement Process

Planning: A detailed site plan and timeline are necessary to deconstruct the turf efficiently. Precise planning and professional site management are essential.

Removing the old system: The actual work of deconstruction begins with removing the turf and separating it from the infill granules and sand. The artificial turf, infill granules, and sand must be removed and separated.

Transporting, disposing of, and recycling waste material: Now that the turf system is removed, the last task is to recycle what you can and dispose of the rest.

Installing the new synthetic turf field surface: Last but not least, the chosen new turf surface is installed on top of the base layer, and a new infill is distributed on top of the turf.

synthetic-sports-turf-replacement2Things to Consider Before Installing New Artificial Turf

Artificial Turf Style

There are so many turf styles to choose from, so select a type that fits your desired aesthetic—short pile, longer pile, all green, etc. We recommend looking at different styles and samples to see what suits your needs.

→ VISIT OUR SYNTHETIC TURF PAGE ←

The new turf we used is manufactured in Italy. This company supplies and builds most sports courts and soccer fields throughout Europe and the world. This turf is a special turf specifically made for indoor use. It requires no infill; we only used silica sand to create weight over the turf. The turf has different sizes, pile heights, and shapes, making it very tight.synthetic-sports-turf-replacement3 With a fast-moving, high-intensity sport like soccer, you want a smooth surface that feels great under the feet and the ball. Plus, a consistent and resilient surface can reduce the risk of injuries. Gappsi’s Synthetic Turf by Italgreen gives you the best of both worlds: a natural underfoot feel like playing on real grass and a premium synthetic turf system’s smooth consistency, durability, and safety.

Italgreen soccer turf represents the maximum technological expression of its genre. It guarantees easy maintenance, exceptional aesthetic appearance, and exceptional performance for soccer and all its derivations, such as futsal and 8-a-side courts.

Italgreen synthetic soccer turf is designed and produced according to the most severe international regulations to guarantee maximum safety, shock absorption, and non-allergenic properties. The constant research and innovation that distinguish the Italgreen model has allowed the Italian company to obtain meaningful certifications such as FIGC and FIR. The artificial soccer turf produced by Italgreen is approved according to the most recent European standard. It is 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly.

NEXT – Underfelt

We are laying down Next. It is a suspension product that keeps the grass elevated from touching the concrete. It also works as a suspension system, separating the turf from the concrete.

NEXT optimizes the synthetic turf system’s anti-shock performance, improving performance during sports practice. Thanks to its reticular structure, it also offers draining support integrated into the artificial turf system, which is primarily studied for horizontal drainage underfelts, as demonstrated by laboratory reports issued by LABOSPORT ITALIA.

The shock pad has high performance and excellent draining capacities, complies with international regulations, and is 100% recyclable. The product is fully recyclable and in full conformity.

Innovative Natural Infill

Italgreen’s best system is Geofill®, the prestigious natural infill patented by Italgreen. It consists mainly of plant fibers. Approved by the most relevant teams, its unique and innovative organoleptic properties give this synthetic turf system a touch of incredible naturalness.  This is the infill Italgreen uses in most fields in Italy and abroad.

How Long Can Turf Last?

The duration of synthetic turf depends on various factors, such as the quality of the materials used, the occupancy rate of the courts or fields, and the type of courts, indoor or outdoor.

To keep your synthetic grass flooring performing, periodically clean, brush, and fill any sand that needs to be removed. This is the latest indoor soccer sports game court built by Gappsi in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, NY.

synthetic-sports-turf-replacementConsider Signing Up for Our Professional Turf Field Maintenance Program

Without regular care and maintenance, damage to the pitch will be its undoing sooner than the club and, above all, the players would like. As is often the case, the more often the field is used, the more you should invest in the maintenance and ongoing upkeep of the turf system.

Synthetic turf field maintenance is divided into permanent care, maintenance, and intensive cleaning. Gappsi offers these services using specialized turf maintenance equipment.

If you lack previous experience and know-how in artificial turf field maintenance, we highly recommend contacting our team at Gappsi. It’s the best way to protect the field’s users from injuries and the long-term financial value of your asset.

Let Gappsi help transform your imagination into new dimensions in water play with dynamic, custom-designed water parks that deliver adventure, visual excitement, and imaginative fun. We offer a full line of water play equipment, including above-ground and below-ground sprayground/splash park features, slides, and structures.

Kiddie Pool Turned Splash Pad

Gappsi recently redesigned a kiddie pool area at the Engineers Country Club in Roslyn Harbor, NY.  We removed the old kiddie pool and replaced it with a new, fun, and exciting splash pad for the kids.  The universal design project offers form and function that are inherently accessible to everyone without modifying the items to be accessible.

The New Water Playground – Splash Pads

Splash pads, or water playgrounds, can be a fun and safe pool alternative. They can be built more quickly than pools, and they offer many benefits, including:

  • Accessibility – Splash pads are accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Their level surfaces and sensory aspects can make them fun for children and families with disabilities.
  • Safety – Splash pads are safer than pools because they have little or no standing water. As a result, there is no risk of drowning. Motion sensors often trigger the nozzles that spray water, and the decks are usually textured or surfaced with non-slip materials.
  • Cost – Water playgrounds can fit most communities’ budgets because they have lower capital costs. They also reduce maintenance requirements more than pools and require less support infrastructure, like changing rooms and admission gates.
  • Water – Water playgrounds can be flexible about water use and can even recycle water back into the spray mechanism to conserve water.
  • Design – Splash pads can offer various design features, and you can easily change the spray features to appeal to the area or time of year.
  • Socialization – Splash pads can bring communities together and provide a fun, interactive space for socialization.

custom-splash-pad-water-playground-new-product-at-gappsi-long-island-ny3Does a Splash Pad Need a Pump

Some splash pads use pumps, while others can use water pressure from a garden hose.  Most splash pads use low-flow recirculating pumps to provide a continuous water supply. The pumps fill an underground storage tank with water, which is filtered and disinfected before being sprayed onto the play area. The water then drains back into the tank to be reused. This system is good for larger splash pads or regions where water conservation is essential.

The other option is a flow-through system.  These systems use the same water pressure as your tap to power the water features.  The water drains into the municipal sewer system. Flow-through systems have low up-front costs because they don’t require pumps, filters, or other equipment, but ongoing costs are associated with using fresh water.  Some backyard splash pad kits can use water pressure from a garden hose, which can reduce maintenance, too.

The new splash pad at Engineers Country Club used the flow-through system without a pump, which made more sense. Without pumps, you do not need electricity or mechanical parts.  The water is fed just the water pressure from the water line.

The water is used and sent to a drain. It was calculated that using the water without filtering or adding chemicals and chlorine to maintain the water system was cheaper. In addition to the cost savings by not using a pump, permits were not required, and no additional plumbing was needed.

We built this very functional splash pad for the club simultaneously with the gunite pool. Kids love it; it is like a miniature water park. For the floor, we used rubberized material mixed with resin, which makes it very hard but soft to walk on.

custom-splash-pad-water-playground-new-product-at-gappsi-long-island-ny1Synthetic Turf For Splash Pad Area

Gappsi installed all synthetic turf surrounding the splash pad. Artificial turf can be a good choice for areas near splash pads because it can be safer, more durable, and lower maintenance than natural grass:

  • Safety – Synthetic turf is slip-resistant and cushioned for bare feet, helping reduce the risk of injury. It is also universally accessible, allowing wheelchairs and other mobility devices to roll easily.
  • Durability – Synthetic turf lasts for years and requires little maintenance. Unlike natural grass, it can be laid in any shape or design and is not susceptible to design challenges.
  • Drainage – Synthetic turf is engineered to be free-draining, so it can dry quickly without becoming muddy or slippery. This allows the surface to be used sooner than natural grass.
  • Pests – Synthetic turf can create a pest-free environment, which is safer to walk on and reduces the risk of summer bugs.

It is a lovely and functional miniature water park.  The system goes in a circle and then shuts down. Then, the kids can just hit the button, which will go through another cycle. This is the latest miniature water park by Gappsi for the kids to enjoy. I am sure even grown-ups will come and make use of this. This is the newest park water feature built by Gappsi in Roslyn, NY.
