We built a raised area in the deeper part of the pool for a sitting area that included the water features. The LED sheer descends and LED water balls add a beautiful look and feel to the backyard. They have lights that come on and are more visible in the nighttime. The patio was completed using Cambridge paving stones, including Charcoal Fullnose 6 x 12 for the patio edge around the pool. Gappsi recently built a custom pickleball court in Queens NY. This sports game court was custom-sized to fit an existing oval area. The court was built with a recycled concrete base and Mateflex tiles in two different blue colors; darker and lighter blue then striped with white lines. The court was built for the Parker Jewish Institute Rehabilitation Center in Queens NY. We installed synthetic turf and trimmed it to fill the space between the court and the existing concrete. We have started the process of cleaning these bathroom tiles and grout.  Our team cleaned a small spot in the middle of the floor just to show how dirty the tiles were.  The Gappsi Method to Cleaning and Sealing tiles in kitchens and bathrooms:

  • Spray the area with chemicals to break down grease, grime, and dirt on the tiles and grout lines.
  • Clean the grout and tiles with hot dry steam.
  • Sanitize the toilet bowl with hot steam.

  • Buffing tiles to remove residue on grout color.
  • Vacuum dust off bathroom floor tiles after buffing.

We start the cleaning preparation process by applying the cleaner over the tiles and grout. The cleaner will soften any grease and dirt that has accumulated on the grout over the years.  This facilitates the removal of any grease and scum when steam is applied to the tiles and grout.

As we let the grout cleaner do its work while we sanitize all bathroom fixtures with dry steam, we clean every groove, gap, and fixture in the bathroom. The dry steam gets through every crack where dirt accumulates over the years.

Our team ensures to sanitize the area with a very hot dry steam. After cleaning and sanitizing all the fixtures we use steam to clean the entire tile area removing all the dirt and grease softened by the cleaner at a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

The steam alone would clean the tiles and grout but prepping the surface with a cleaner to facilitate the removal of the dirt and create a clean surface is better.  It opens all the pores in the grout for the color sealer to penetrate deeper.

This completes the steam cleaning process of the whole bathroom including the walls then finishing with the floor. The grout is ready to be sealed after we cleaned the bathroom.  Once complete we coloured the grout and sealed it too.   The colour and sealer combination will create a uniform grout coloring while sealing it and protecting it from absorbing dirt in the future.

Cleaning-and-Sealing-Paving-Stones3After we let the color sealer absorb into the grout joints we wipe the excess that’s sitting on the tiles.  It dries for a minute or so and the process continues throughout the entire bathroom. Once all the joints are sealed, we let the grout dry.  We polish with a buffing machine and remove any dry residue that was left on the tiles during the grout cleaning process.

A final vacuum is completed to remove any dust that was created during the cleaning process.  For a final coating over all the grout and colored sealer, we apply an extra step of clear sealer.  This provides further protection for the tiles and grout of the bathroom walls and floor.  The clear sealer will not enhance or change the color of the grout or stones when it dries. We then wipe off any additional residue of sealer accumulated over the tiles. This also further spreads the sealer into the joints.

Gappsi recently designed and built a backyard for a private residence in Laurel Hollow NY. The backyard had an existing Gunite pool that we refinished and restored. We installed new coping, and porcelain tiles in the water line under the coping, then finished the pool with gray marble dusting. The coping consists of bull nose walnut travertine which was also used throughout the backyard for caps on walls and steps.

Marble Dusting Gunite Pool Repair

Marble Dusting is a smooth plaster finish that is applied to the gunite pool or spa. It’s a mixture of highly refined white cement and crushed marble. This material can be dyed into many colors or purchased in a specific color and aggregate pattern. While white, or anything in the gray spectrum including black is common, exposed aggregate finishes can provide a unique look to your pool. Gunite pools are known for their durability, longevity, and customizability. However, they also require regular maintenance to keep them looking and functioning at their best. Here are some tips for gunite pool maintenance:

  • Brush the pool walls and floor: Use a pool brush to scrub the walls and floor of your gunite pool regularly. This will help prevent the buildup of algae and other debris.
  • Skim the surface: Use a pool skimmer to remove leaves, insects, and other debris from the surface of the water. Doing this daily will help prevent the debris from sinking to the bottom of the pool.
  • Check the water chemistry: Test the water chemistry of your gunite pool regularly to ensure that the pH, alkalinity, and chlorine levels are balanced. Imbalanced water chemistry can lead to algae growth, staining, and other problems.
  • Shock the pool: Shocking the pool involves adding a large dose of chlorine to the water to kill bacteria, algae, and other contaminants. This should be done every week or two, or as needed.

This backyard was designed and built for a private residence in Laurel Hollow NY. The pool was existing and restored. We installed new coping porcelain tiles in the water line under the coping and finished the pool with gray marble dusting. The coping consists of bull nose walnut travertine which was also used throughout the backyard for caps on walls and steps.

The entire backyard was paved with G046 Melfi limestone, a very beautiful combination of colors, browns, grays, and maroon colors. We used a cultured stone for the rises and the wall veneer. The project was recently sealed as well.  In addition, we built an outdoor kitchen, and on the top left, there is a multi-level backyard. Very detailed backyard design, this is the latest Gappsi project design and build on Long Island in Laurel Hollow NY.

Muttontown NY Pool House Pavillion Installation

We built this custom pavilion in Muttontown NY. The Pavilion was completed with vinyl columns and Azak trimming. The inside ceiling is exposed being stained in a mahogany color. We created a storage area with a backdrop wall or privacy wall to accommodate the 2 TVs. We used G036 marble pavers selected from the Gappsi Natural Stone Collection. The wall and the bar island were veneered with silver travertine 4-inch tumbled split face. The above wall was completed with IPE wood and also stained with a natural finish.

The clients use this area for outdoor entertainment. They included a little outdoor pool table and a sofa area. On the island, we installed a small sink and Summit refrigerator with Twin Eagles grill and storage cabinets. The bar area is facing the TV. Very beautiful job, and the clients are very happy. We also restored the pool area patio. Our team utilized the same Nicolock Village paver in Granite City.  We releveled and installed polymeric sand in the paver joints too. The clients in addition purchased a Passion Spa from Gappsi. The latest Gappsi Project in Muttontown Nassau County NY.
