Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you combine the pool and spa instead of keeping them separate? Combining the pool and spa creates a beautiful, unified look, especially with the water cascading from the spa into the pool. It’s also more efficient. By having them share the same pump, filter, and heater, you simplify maintenance and can reduce operational costs. It makes the whole system work together seamlessly for a better experience.

What are the benefits of using limestone pavers for the patio? Limestone pavers offer a major upgrade from older materials like clay brick. They provide a more modern and elegant appearance that can completely change the feel of a backyard. Beyond looks, limestone is incredibly durable and tends to stay cooler underfoot compared to many other materials, which is a huge plus on hot summer days. It creates a more comfortable and luxurious patio surface.

Is it always necessary to replace the plumbing during a pool remodel? While it’s not a requirement for every project, we often recommend replacing old plumbing during a significant remodel. Over time, pipes can degrade and become less efficient. Installing new PVC plumbing, as we did here, ensures the entire system is reliable for years to come. It’s a proactive step that helps prevent leaks and other costly issues down the road.

How long does a complete pool and patio renovation usually take? The timeline for a pool remodel can vary quite a bit depending on the scope of the work. A project like this one, which involved structural changes, new plumbing, and a full patio replacement, requires careful planning. Factors like weather and material availability also play a role. The best approach is to schedule a consultation so we can give you a more precise timeline based on your specific project.

My pool is old, but I’m not sure if it needs a full remodel. What are some signs to look for? If you’re wondering whether it’s time for an update, there are a few key things to look for. Visible signs include cracks in the surface, worn or missing tiles, and a dated overall appearance. You might also notice that your equipment is running inefficiently or that you’re constantly dealing with leaks. If your pool area no longer fits your lifestyle or requires frequent repairs, it’s probably a good time to consider a remodel.

Key Takeaways

  • Combine your pool and spa for a seamless design: Integrating a separate spa into your pool’s system not only creates a beautiful waterfall effect but also simplifies maintenance by using a single set of equipment for both.
  • A patio upgrade can redefine your entire space: Swapping out dated materials, like old clay bricks, for a more modern and elegant option like limestone pavers is a powerful way to completely transform the look and feel of your backyard.
  • Focus on foundational updates for a lasting renovation: A successful remodel goes deeper than just appearances; updating essential components like plumbing, lighting, and interior finishes ensures your pool is as functional and durable as it is beautiful.

Stucco Installer, Applicator, Contractor on Long Island

Stucco Installer, Applicator, Contractor on Long IslandStucco is a popular building material that is mainly used in residential exterior siding. It is a combination of sand, Portland cement, lime, and sometimes water. Plaster can be applied to wood, block, and concrete. When applying stucco to wood framing, it is usually attached to a wire lath that is attached to the structural framing. Wood framing must be protected by a water resistant moisture barrier, such as asphalt building paper or different types of building wraps, before the wire lath and stucco are applied. New stucco should cure for thirty days before prime and paint are applied.

is a common problem found in stucco due to the trapped moisture that migrates towards the stucco surface, it sometimes carries mineral deposits within it. This can cause <a discoloration and sometimes adhesion problems. New stucco can sometimes develop cracks during the curing process. As water is eliminated and the stucco hardens, hairline cracks tend to occur. Once you apply the primer and paint with a paint roller it typically fills the narrow cracks. The roller helps push the paint into the cracks. Larger stucco cracks require a stucco patch filler to bridge the gap. When painting new you must include a primer coat and one or two finishing coats. All paints and primers should be used for exterior surfaces.

Pennsylvania Blue Stone Treads and Flagging

Pennsylvania Blue Stone Treads and FlaggingPennsylvania bluestone is a dense, strong, fine-grained sandstone. Bluestone is quarried in northeastern United States, mostly in Pennsylvania and upstate New York. This material is ideal for decks and patios as it resists cracking and won’t discolor. Bluestone can be separated into a different variety of slabs, making it useful for other home details such as steps, walls, building facades, interior floors, and fireplaces. The texture is rough to provide traction in the rain, yet comfortable enough to lay on. Bluestone comes in a variety of colors due to the stone’s clay and minerals. These colors can vary containing shades of brown, green, blue, and sometimes lilac. Bluestone comes in two different textures: natural cleft or sawn thermal. Natural cleft surface presents the natural characteristics of the bluestone. Sawn thermal finish is when the bluestone is sawn out of the ground and split on visible seams. The texture is smooth and its thickness is approximately the same throughout. There are two patterns that are used for Pennsylvania bluestone. Ashlar pattern is a combination of squares, rectangles, and color variations. Fieldston pattern is irregular shapes together that are placed randomly.
Pennsylvania bluestone does not need to be sealed. A light powerwash on the lowest setting is all you would need if you wish to clean your bluestone. Efflorescence is a powdery white substance that can appear on the surface a few years after the bluestone is installed. It can occur by masonry maintenance products that might be used around your home. The cost of Pennsylvania bluestone can vary depending on the size of the area you wish to cover and the type of texture you choose.
