FAQ about Base material for driveway front walkways long island

Hi Michael,
It was good to see you today, and I really appreciate the time you had spent with me, and the information you had provided. Thank you also for providing the proposal to me so quickly.
I have a few questions regarding this proposal:
1) Please confirm that the $7425.00 price you had quoted for the driveway includes the removal of the existing driveway.
2) For the rip & removal of the existing concrete sidewalk in back of the front apron and in front of the existing driveway; the proposal states “pour 4″ 3500 PSI concrete, wire-reinforced”. I don’t see the tie-in for pouring new concrete, as I thought everything would be set in 6 inches of oversized crushed concrete, and 6 inches of recycled concrete base, with the pavers to laid on top of one inch of sand. Can you clarify this for me?
3) I think the way we had discussed this, this front sidewalk would consist of pavers, and would continue the driveway to the new front apron, and that the new apron would also be done in the same paver style as the driveway. Can you confirm that the front sidewalk will be excavated to a depth of 12 inches, everything would be set in 6 inches of oversized crushed concrete, and 6 inches of recycled concrete base, with the pavers to laid on top of one inch of sand. and the price includes this depth excavation and the paving stones as well?
4) For the paving stone walkway; the proposal states the excavation depth will be 8 inches. I thought we had discussed the excavation depth for the entire job as being 12 inches. Can you let me know about this?
5) Can you provide me with a sketch as to the recommended layout for the new two-car driveway, with the radius we had discussed from the new garage to the sidewalk?
6) As a favor, you were going to provide me with the recommendations for the 4500 PSI concrete and rebar, wire reinforcement and ting the rebar and the wire reinforcement together for maximum strength of the new garage concrete floor. Could I ask that you provide this information to me, so I can give it to the contractor when we are ready to build the new garage?
If you can reply whenever you have the chance, I would appreciate it.
Thanks & Best Regards,

Driveway design layout ideas requests Nassau Suffolk long island

Mike,
Nice talking to you today… I will call the tree guys tomorrow about cutting the trees 18″ from the ground as opposed to grinding the stumps and to see when they can proceed so we can get this done!! With regards to the design we had some time to mull it over and sat with my landscape designer friend, Scott and I and we went through our different scenarios and we would like to modify your design by removing the cut through as Scott doesn’t think he would use it that often and we dont want to make it looking like a parking lot in the front of the house more than it has too. We would also like to change the position of my driveway to allow me to back out of the driveway with ease if someone is parked on the half circle and to make it more straight. Also we want to put the walkway a little over to hide it behind the flower bed so you dont see the walkway pavers from the street and lastly making a square to follow the portico and staircase lines instead of a circle bottom at the center of the circle bumpot so I can park a car there if need be and put small bushes in front to to enhance the look ๐Ÿ™‚ This may change the square footage of the job slightly but I am not too sure.. We drew it out as best we could to show you and I am attaching that to help you. My scanner broke so I had to take a picture of it and hope you can see what we are trying to achieve.
Once the trees are down we will need to coordinate when the excavator is here and trenching as Scott will take off that day to run the water line and get that over with so we can put the dirt right back on top!
I hope you dont mind that we modified as we love your ideas also but we just want to make sure its what works for us. If you see anything that you dont agree with, please let me know…
Courtney

Driveway design layout granite pavers Suffolk & Nassau county long island

Mike,
Thank you so much for coming here today and putting my mind to ease about this job. Scott and I talked and we are going to remove ALL the trees to maximize the look of the driveway and the house.. We can always plant new trees elsewhere once the pavers are completed ๐Ÿ™‚
With that said we can now make Scotts driveway more aesthetically pleasing as well since that big tree will be gone and we can keep his cut through.. Can you send me the pictures of the layouts that you have mocked up showing the extension of pavers on Scotts side, the bumpout in the center of the arch in front of the door and also making my parking space bigger to accommodate the big cars ๐Ÿ™‚ .. I am pretty sure you had an aerial shot as well as one looking head on but not too sure.
As for the mocha travertine clearly we have no choice but to use the 6x9s that match and I do trust that you guys will work them into the existing patio and make it look great!!
I will begin to get tree estimates tomorrow and get that going…
I believe you said that you will come and mark out the morning of the excavation and then begin to dig the same day and I think it will work well if Scott will be home to run the pipe the same day for the water line since it will be trenched. Let me know if this will work since its copper and doesn’t bend he really wouldn’t be able to feed through a tube that easy he said. You two can talk if need be on this as I have no clue I am just passing along the message.
I know that all of these brilliant ideas you have with the aprons and turning the bricks in different directions or whatever and the bump out in the center of the driveway and anything else you threw at us is not on the drawing.. I just want to make sure that they will be included in the design and passed along to Charlie when he is here overseeing the job as I believe he indicated he was going to be here with his crew for this job…
Again I thank you and I will hopefully touch base with you in a couple of days with the tree estimates so I can get moving on the permits and having them removed.
I look forward to the process with Gappsi as you guys really have been such a pleasure through everything this far..
Sincerely the email lady ๐Ÿ™‚
