This backyard layout includes a vinyl-lined swimming pool with fiberglass steps and a raised patio area next to the pool, which was built as a sundeck and also to include a sheer descent water feature installation. Also, we installed a wood burning fire-pit and sitting wall combination with travertine veneer and coping. The whole backyard patio and pool area was paved with Scabos french pattern travertine pavers and silver travertine coping.
This kitchen remodeling started with an all new room layout, by removing middle partitions that divided the dining and cooking area we combined the rooms into an open space layout. With the elimination of the walls and installation of a new larger window, we allowed more light to come into the house. All new custom-wood kitchen cabinets in two tones of beige for the hood and the island and dark cherry for all other cabinets were installed. Tumbled travertine tiles were installed for the back-splash, and matte-finish seashell limestone counters were installed for both cabinets and the center island. A beam molding, protruding down from the ceilings defining the slopes and angles, was constructed and stained to match the kitchen cabinets and refinished wood floors. Porcelain plank tiles were installed from front door entrance throughout the kitchen area leading into the family room. These porcelain plank tiles are durable, withstand high heat, and also creates a clear definition for the couch and table areas.
This small backyard was designed by Giuseppe Abbrancati and installed by Gappsi in Merrick, Long Island NY in 2018 on a spectacular waterfront property. The layout incorporates a gunite swimming pool with a spa, corner stairs, benches, and sheer descent water features that were installed along one side of the pool facing the house. The pool also has a safety auto cover, automation system, LED lights, salt chlorine generator, and an ozone system.
The pool finish consists of Diamond Brite French Gray with tile markers installed at the edges of the steps and benches. Pennsylvania blue-stone was used for the coping and the patio was paved with Pompeii limestone selected from Gappsi showroom. A gas fire pit was installed on the circular shaped patio and Acadia Go-Green synthetic turf was used to cover the remaining yard space. The deck was modified to accommodate the new backyard layout.
A truly great backyard is an entertainment hub, offering something for everyone. It’s the combination of features that creates a fun and relaxing atmosphere. A pool can have a slide for the kids, a sundeck with bubblers for lounging, and automated LED lighting to set the mood at night. We integrated all these elements and more into a recent project, creating the ultimate gunite pool in Coram. This design also included a cozy, wood-burning fire pit for cool evenings. It’s a perfect example of how thoughtful planning can transform a simple yard into the go-to destination for family and friends.
This gunite swimming pool was built in Coram, NY by Gappsi. The construction design layout, created by Giuseppe Abbrancati, consists of 10 inch walls and an 8 inch floor with 5,000 PSI dry-shot cement mix. The travertine pavers surrounding the pool were installed on 4 inches of poured concrete base and one inch of clean sand. The joints between pavers were filled with polymeric sand.
This gunite swimming pool was built to accommodate the clients wishes. It measures over 1,400 sq ft of surface area, and has a depth going from 46 to 50 inches deep. The Fiorito used for the pool coping and surrounding patio is one of the most beautiful travertine patterns selected from the Gappsi Natural Stone Showroom collection.
The pool design also incorporates a large sundeck that features a jet bubbler. It is entertaining for the kids and also serves as small water fountain feature in the center of the sundeck.
The deep end of the gunite swimming pool contains a free form stairs and bench design. The plaster finish applied on the swimming pool walls is Diamond Brite Tahiti Blue, which is a combination of Tahoe Blue and Super Blue Diamond Brite quartz finishes. 6×6 inch tiles were installed at the water line and 3×3 inch tiles were used as markers at the edges of the steps and benches.
The pool has many options starting with 3 large LED lights in the pool, one small light in the sundeck step, and the bubbler used in the sundeck has a light as well. The entire gunite swimming pool has a full automation system that works from a smart phone, allowing the customer to control the gas heater, salt chlorine generator, and Ozone system. On the outside of the pool, a wood-burning fire pit was built with firebricks and veneered with travertine. And at the deep end, a Inter-Fab X-Stream 2 pool slide was installed.

Our experience with Gappsi began in August., 2017 and it was purely by chance. My husband found their website, and dropped by their business after setting up an appointment with another pool builder down the block from them. Immediately upon walking into their place of business, he received a hospitable reception which gave him the “warm and fuzzy” feeling he likes to get when doing a business transaction. This is his indication of an honest, trustworthy company. And his intuition proved to be right. Having spent months prior doing research, we knew exactly what we wanted, a gunite pool to fit the existing landscape of our nice sized yard. The owner, Giuseppe Abbrancati, came out, took notes and pictures of our yard, and within a week, had computer generated renderings, which we were able to modify on the spot. Giuseppe and his son, Emanuele, did a phenomenal job at giving us exactly what we wanted, instead of trying to sell us on the expensive add-on features that we didn’t want. And what that enabled us to do was go bigger with our free-form design, one of the largest residential gunite pools they had done and at a very reasonable price. The only major hiccup was when their project manager had to be replaced, but once that hurdle was overcome, the newly assigned project manager, Tosh, made sure getting our pool, the gas lines, the electrical, the masonry, the sodding and landscaping were all completed in time for the opening of our pool in June, 2018. We are delighted and thrilled beyond measure at our resort style backyard. We would recommend Gappsi, a family-run business, to all!! This backyard is designed and constructed by Gappsi in West Islip, Long island NY 11795. The layout incorporates a 18×36 gunite swimming pool rectangular shape. The swimming pool is only 6 feet deep and is a non-diving pool, thus a diving board cannot be installed. The steps are built along side the 18 foot long shallow area and it also has 2 benches in the deep end to exit the pool. The finish of the swimming pool is done with black-colored quartz dust. Two LED lights are installed on one side and the hydraulic system, consisting of two skimmers and 2 inch 40 schedule PVC [gravityform id=”1″ title=”true” description=”true”]plumbing.
Hayward equipment is installed including a gas heater, VS pump, cartridge filter, salt-chlorine generator, and an automation control panel. The swimming pool also has a safety auto cover and a mesh winter cover. The coping and patio consists of 2 inch thick, flamed Pennsylvania bluestone for the pool coping, and 1 inch flagging for the remainder of the patio. On one side of the swimming pool, there is no patio and the grass comes up to the pool edge. There is also a pool cabana built and an outdoor cooking island. The landscaping, including flowers, grass, and trees. The pool and patio design is created to compliment the Hamptons-style home, finished with natural, weathered cedar shingles.
