With the elimination of the walls and installation of a new larger window, we allowed more light to come into the house. All new custom-wood kitchen cabinets in two tones of beige for the hood and the island and dark cherry for all other cabinets were installed. Tumbled travertine tiles were installed for the back-splash, and matte-finish seashell limestone counters were installed for both cabinets and the center island. A beam molding, protruding down from the ceilings defining the slopes and angles, was constructed and stained to match the kitchen cabinets and refinished wood floors. Porcelain plank tiles were installed from front door entrance throughout the kitchen area leading into the family room. These porcelain plank tiles are durable, withstand high heat, and also creates a clear definition for the couch and table areas.
