This project was designed and installed by Gappsi in Smithtown NY. We starting with the construction of the free-form vinyl swimming pool, new stoops built by the backyard sliding doors, and approximately 2,000 sq ft of flamed Amagansett granite pavers and pool coping. Amagansett granite is a very colorful stone containing different colors: white, yellow, peach, gold, and brown shades. It makes a perfect to match any surrounding landscape and outdoor furniture. Amagansett Granite paving stones bring some life to the backyard with its pleasant and colorful blend.
Swimming pool tiles installation in Amagansett Long island NY by Gappsi Giuseppe Abbrancati in 1988. The tiles on the wall were 2”x2” combination of white and green squares, the coping was 24×24 white cement wet cast and on the swimming pool floor a tile mosaic of a mermaid was installed. The most amazing thing it’s how fast time passes that was 30 years ago I went from a rookie to an Old Timer!!!

The driveway installation started with the excavation of existing asphalt and sub base. New concrete base with fiber mesh was installed with Amagansett granite pavers is laid over a thin layer of graded sand. Stone was selected from the Gappsi natural stone collection. Jumbo Belgian block was installed for the street curb and driveway entrance. The sealing process begins with pressure washing the entire patio, removing all dirt/debris from the stone surface and in between the joints. Next, Nexgel Techniseal synthetic sand is applied in between the pavers joints and vibrated with a mechanical plate compactor. The plate compactor has rubber rollers to prevent the stones from cracking or scratching. This vibrating process allows the sand to fall in between the joints and density. Then, we clean the pavers with brooms and landscape blowers, to clean the excess sand from the pavers surface and to evenly spread the sand in between the pavers joints. The next step is to wash the pavers by misting water to penetrate the synthetic sand into the paver joints all the way down below the pavers. The sand and water activate a chemical reaction of the pollen that’s in the sand to cause the sand to harden. Finally, the application of the sealer, two parts components urethane dealer, specially formulated for Gappsi, is applied to the pavers surface and the sand joints to prevent stones from staining, extend their life cycle and further enhance their texture, color, and surface. From design concept to finish execution Gappsi provides natural stone supply/installation, Cleaning and sealing services. Letter from customer to GAPPSI in 2010
“Initially, my husband and I wanted to only redo our front stairs. We had several contractors give us quotes, but no one could design what we were visualizing. Giuseppe at Gappsi changed all that. He worked over all the problem areas and did a better design than we imagined. When we visited the showroom, we decided to extend our project: we did our driveway and added a side patio. We used Amagansett 6×9 flamed and tumbled granite paving stones that we selected from the Gappsi showroom for the driveway, the walkway, and for the border of the backyard patio. We absolutely fell in love with and used large French pattern natural travertine pavers for the patio. We also added Hanover tan blend for the seating walls in the backyard and for the front stoop. Gappsi even handled the landscaping. Besides a great design, the team that worked here daily was so professional and friendly. We would recommend this company to anyone. They truly were a pleasure to work with! ”
