Benefits of Travertine Patios & Pool Copings

Here are some benefits of installing travertine patios and pool copings in Nassau & Suffolk Counties:

Durability

Travertine is an exceptionally durable material that can withstand extreme temperatures. Using this material for pool coping and patios will work in your favor as it can withstand foot traffic. It’s why travertine is often used in areas with heavy foot traffic, such as patios, walkways, and even driveways.

Water Absorption

A pool coping is right on the edge of the pool. It is the first thing your feet touch when you emerge from the swimming pool. Since your pool coping comes into direct contact with water, you need it to be water-absorbent. Concrete pavers do not offer water absorbency, leading them to crack and get damaged over time. On the other hand, travertine is the ideal choice because it can absorb water more efficiently. Hence, using it for your pool coping and patio will help them last a long time.

Eco-Friendliness

Travertine is an eco-friendly stone as it undergoes an environmentally-friendly manufacturing process compared to marble. So, travertine is the way to go if you want to adopt sustainable life choices and home improvement projects for your backyard. Furthermore, this natural stone is exceptionally low-maintenance. It stays intact significantly longer than concrete, making it a cost-effective and sustainable choice.

Long-Lasting & Non-Fading

Since travertine patio pavers are durable, they last a long time. These stone pavers are fade-resistant and keep mold and mildew at bay. They can withstand continued exposure to sunlight without losing color for a long time.

Aesthetic Appeal & Curb Value

Lastly, travertine has an undeniable pull that adds to its aesthetic appeal. It has charming and distinctive limestone swirls that add to its beauty. Travertine tiles have a layered, mottled texture and distinct look. Since travertine patio pavers and pool copings are visually pleasing, they can add to your property’s curb appeal. When you sell your property, prospective buyers might be willing to pay more for the luxurious travertine patio and pool construction.

Cool to the Touch

When you get out of your pool, the last thing you want is to step on a sweltering surface. Travertine pavers in Nassau & Suffolk Counties are also ideal for pool copings. Travertine is cool to the touch, enabling you to walk barefoot on these surfaces.

Slip-Resistant

Adding travertine pool tiles and patio pavers to your yard will enhance your safety by preventing accidental falls. Travertine is a slip-resistant material due to its naturally rough surface. It’s an excellent choice for pool copings and decks since you have to step on them with wet feet, which increases the likelihood of slip and fall accidents.

No Efflorescence

Efflorescence is a powdery white substance commonly observed on concrete surfaces. You need to clean the surface to remove it thoroughly. Travertine pavers do not have efflorescence. It’s a popular choice for people who want a hassle-free patio and backyard that does not require much cleaning. Travertine is easy to clean and retains its look for a long time.

Maintain Your Travertine Patio Pavers & Pool Coping

Even though travertine patio pavers or tiles are water-resistant, they can gradually accumulate stains. Furthermore, since your pool coping is close to loose soil and the water from the pool, it can collect dirt and stubborn stains that settle into its natural pores. You can prevent this by sealing these pavers and copings every three to five years. It will help ensure your patio and coping do not suffer from preventable damage.

Cleaning & Sealing Travertine Patio Pavers

Gappsi also provides its clients with immaculate patio paver cleaning and sealing services. We can clean, seal, and restore your old patios with our state-of-the-art machinery and expertise that spans decades. We steam-clean the surface and then apply top-quality polymeric sand to it. We also use a mechanical plate compactor and apply a top-tier Polyurethane sealer to seal the patio so that it looks as good as new. Moreover, sealing provides your patio with a polished and chic look that keeps the travertine pavers from looking rough and unappealing. After proper cleaning and sealing, the shine can enhance your property’s curb appeal. It also protects your paved patio from water damage, unsightly cracks, weeds, mildew, algae, and continued sunlight exposure. The sealant also draws out the color of the travertine patio pavers.

Travertine Patios And Pools On Long Island

Travertine Patios And Pools On Long Island

Travertine Patios And Pools On Long IslandGappsi designed and completed the landscaping and Travertine Patios And Pools On Long Island recently in a home located in Yaphank, NY.  Gappsi installed a freeform vinyl pool with a gunite spa spilling into the pool. Three structures were built including a gazebo, a pavilion, and a pergola; since the property is surrounded by woods populated by deer we decided to screen the gazebo for bugs also.

Backyard Gunite Spa with G035 Travertine Pavers

The home’s backyard was built on two levels so Gappsi utilized natural stone borders to retain the hearth and create a more natural look as well. The freeform vinyl pool is 18 x36, with the deepest part of the pool only 5 1/2 feet. There is a gradual slope on the bottom with the walls being straight down. The stairs that were installed are in the shallow area and we added 3 built-in stools in the pool to sit and relax poolside.

The spa that was added is a gunite spa finished with super blue diamond brights. This pavilion was built to add a shaded area while relaxing near the pool with a pergola for a lounge chair. The patio was paved with G035 travertine selected from the Gappsi stone collection and the veneer on the spa is also G035 travertine. The entire backyard has a very beautiful setting and layout.  The homeowners will enjoy the backyard for many many years to come along with all the family members.

Why Consider a Travertine Pool Deck?

One of the best reasons to consider these pavers is purely aesthetic. They provide a unique look that, when compared with other pavers, makes your patio or pool deck stand out amongst others in your neighborhood! An essential part of buying a pool is thinking about the best pool deck for your family. Travertine tile pool patios are increasingly popular because they are slip, heat, and mold resistant.  Travertine is a natural form of sedimentary limestone. It develops around natural spring mineral deposits, leading to distinctive swirls throughout the limestone. Due to the travertine tiles’ layered, mottled texture and beauty, the ancient Romans favored it as a building material.

Benefits of Travertine Patios And Pools On Long Island

Travertine is eco-friendly
All travertine stones are eco-friendly as they adopt an environment-friendly manufacturing process as opposed to marble. In addition, this stone is super low maintenance; they stay intact much longer, thus avoiding the need to replace them regularly.

Extremely durable
Due to Travertiens’s ability to withstand heat and extreme temperatures, travertine pool pavers are known to be extremely durable, thus making them ideal for all outdoor projects.  For example driveways, walkways, patios, and pools; enjoy your barbeques and parties.

Water Absorbency
Concrete pavers do absorb some water where tiles do not, and neither does flagstone. Since water is constantly present around a swimming pool, especially if it is heavily used by children choosing travertine pavers is smart because it absorbs more water than other paving materials.

Non-Fading
Better paving materials today are fade resistant, but in the face of the sun, over the years even pavers do lose some color. Travertine pool decks are natural stones whose color is permanent versus dyes that are long-lasting or fade-resistant.

No Efflorescence
What is that? Efflorescence is a powdery white deposit that’s commonly seen on concrete surfaces and requires cleaning to remove it.

While this isn’t part of our list above of reasons for suggesting travertine for patios and pools the fact is that it is hugely popular. This isn’t a fad or trend; it’s been in big demand for patios and pool decks for several years now, and instead of showing signs of losing favor as a trend does, the requests for travertine paving in the backyard continue to grow.

Are You Ready To Level Up Your Yard?

When looking to remodel your pool deck, having a selection of colors and sizes to choose from makes the process all the more enjoyable. At Gappsi you can select from an array of travertine deck pavers’ colors, sizes, designs, and patterns. No matter your taste, finding the right paver for your style is simple!

Work With a Contractor For Maintaining Your Travertine Pool Deck

Although travertine tiles are water-resistant, they may gradually appear stained. Further, if your travertine pool deck is close to loose soil, dirt can become trapped in the natural pores.

Fortunately, you can easily prevent this by sealing your deck every three to five years. Although you’re not required to seal your deck, you’ll be grateful that you did so a few years down the road.  Your pool contractor can replace damaged tiles or may recommend a cleaning and sealing of your pool’s patio.

If you clean your travertine tiles on a regular basis, you shouldn’t need much help from a contractor to repair or replace them.

Gunite pool and travertine patio East Islip NY

Gunite pool and travertine patio East Islip NY  We completed this project about 4years ago. We installed a new gunite pool 16×36 with a bluestone coping, auto cover and a fiorito travertine patio. The pool has a sundeck.  We have lined the steps edges with glass tiles. You can see they reflect light from one side. The pool is a sports pool. The deep end of the pool is the center. This side we have corner stairs. There is a bar area with stools inside the pool. In the lower patio area, chairs can be used as stools on the outside.  This is a sunken fire pit area with a bench and gas fire pit. On this we have a semi raised patio. The property slopes so the pool was built a step down from the original house patio. This is a gas fire pit used more as an accent and this is also a sitting area. The property sits on a beautiful lake. The house is about 100 years old.  We faced the walls of the pool to match the original bricks of the house to make it look like it’s been here as long as the house has been here.
