Gappsi installed a 38 x 52 basketball sports game court in Bayshore Long Island Suffolk County NY.  We designed the sports game courts over a gravel base, and bluestone dust and included fabric before we installed the tiles. The basketball court is framed with 2 x 6 pressure-treated lumber for the edging to support the base.  We finished the trimmed edges with synthetic grass to create an out-of-bounce area around the court.  The basketball hoop is adjustable to different heights so it can grow with the age of the players.  Gappsi striped the basketball sports game courts with the key in white and used blue and yellow

Limestone – The luxurious feel and look of limestone make it a great choice for a pool deck.

Sandstone – A sedimentary rock composed of sand-size grains of mineral, rock, or organic material. Many sandstone materials are great for pool decks as their split surfaces are naturally slip-resistant. Colors range from beige to brown to gray-blue.

Granite – A coarse-grained igneous rock, granite has a high content of quartz and feldspar giving it a speckled appearance. One of the most durable quarried stones from around the world, granite is nearly always massive, hard, and tough.

Bluestone – Bluestone is actually a sandstone with a deep blue color but also appears with other hues such as shades of gray and brown. Bluestone is known for its advantageous price point. Natural cleft bluestone is quite slip-resistant.

Travertine – A form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, especially hot springs. Travertine often has a fibrous or concentric appearance and exists in white, tan, cream-colored, and even rusty varieties.

Marble – Marble can have beautiful pattern movement within the stone and comes in a wide variety of colors from white to salmon to gray, blue, green, and black.

Kidney-shaped gunite swimming pools remodeled in Center Island NY. We installed new stairs across the shallow area and porcelain tiles in the water line. The pool was totally remodeled with new plumbing and a new finish. We used super blue diamond bright and tile markers on the edge of the steps. The patio consists of G44 limestone in a french pattern and two inches of G044 Marble Limestone all selected from the Gappsi natural stone collection. Very beautiful property, a very beautiful setting. The latest gunite remodels by Gappsi.

Common Sports Game Courts Materials

♦  Asphalt: The most affordable option for having a basketball sports game court is an asphalt pad with painted lines. The material costs are the least expensive as well as the installation due to cutting out the expense of having the court painted.

Some people have concerns about the durability of unpainted asphalt. It’s been our experience that as long as you don’t have large trees with big tree roots near the court you should be fine and will avoid the potential for big cracks. As for wear and tear, a sports court will not experience the same traffic as your driveway so its longevity will be much longer than your standard driveway.

This is the best material for a driveway basketball court. It’s softer and more forgiving on the body than on other surfaces. For best results, install when the weather is warm and the ground is dry.

The court can be asphalt, and the edging can be brick pavers, beautifying the look of the court.  

♦  Concrete: This surface can be slippery and not as soft, making it less desirable for competitive basketball use. In cold climates, the concrete can crack and heave, making it unsafe.  Concrete is a common driveway material, works for family-fun basketball, and lasts about 30 years.

Much like an asphalt pad, a concrete pad with painted lines is more affordable than one that’s painted due to cutting out the painting process.  The concrete looks nicer but the asphalt plays nicer.

♦  Hard-packed Gravel w/ Mateflex– Many towns, especially in the Northeast, have strict zoning laws that regulate the amount of non-permeable coverage your property can have. If your town will not allow you to have a non-permeable court, then a hard-packed gravel court with Sports Courts tiles may be your best and only option.

♦  Brick Pavers: Flat pavers can make for a smooth playing surface. They come in many colors and can be replaced if stained or broken. In addition, you can build basketball court lines, such as the free-throw line, right into the design by using different-colored pavers.  What we like about it the most is it compliments your property more than any other option. Not that the other options don’t. It’s just that a brick paver basketball sports courts really looks nice, especially if you already have a paver patio.

What you get with this is a brick paver patio with the basketball court lines cut out and replaced with different colored bricks. The aesthetics of this are awesome. The athletics of it aren’t bad either.

◊  Maintenance: Basketball play should not result in any additional maintenance for the driveway, and the hoop structure should require little maintenance. If you see rust, remove it right away and check the warranty that came with your system. A quality system should last a lifetime.

◊  Permit: A permit is not typically required, but you should always check the rules in your area, as well as your homeowner’s association if you belong to one. People may think they can’t have a hoop because of their homeowner’s association.  But in many cases, they are allowed, or you can file for an exception. You almost always get one.

◊  Extras: Go beyond the hoop and driveway by adding some helpful extras. These are the most popular:

  • Stenciling kit: The kit includes a pattern and paint to add a 3-point line, free-throw line, lane, baseline, and more.
  • Pole pad: This cushion around the pole eases any collisions while playing and can be customized with vinyl lettering.
  • Lights: LED lamps to illuminate your driveway and allow you to play basketball at night.
  • Ball Containment: A net or fence stops the ball from going into the bushes, down a hill, over a fence, or into the neighbor’s yard.

We used Autumn Blend for the field, Granite City Holland Stones for the 3-point line, as well as for striping. For the key, we used a Travertine color.

The non-skid, flat surface is optimal for basketball and is the choice of many players.  Permeable pavers bring the efforts of staying “green” all the way out to the curb! Our team at Gappsi incorporated stairs and a sundeck into the pool to add additional features. The sundeck has 12 inches of water and it’s used to keep the lunch chairs with a table that will hold an umbrella. A water feature with led spillover bowls and a 4 feet sheer descent. The water bowls are coordinated with the pool lights which also change colors. We paved the entire backyard and pool coping with G043 marble pavers. We also landscaped up the fence between the pool and fence with evergreens and other flowering plants.

If you want to add a tennis court to your property, make sure you have enough room for the tennis court construction. We have built tennis courts in locations where the available space was slightly smaller than the normal regulation-size tennis court. Tennis Court and Basketball Sports Game Court Combo In Smithtown NY

Gappsi Design Team built a brand new sports game court; a combination of basketball and tennis in Smithtown NY. Nicolock paving stones size 6×9 in the color named Granite City bordered the Tennis & Basketball Sports Game Court.  We used 2 inches of asphalt over an oversized recycled concrete base.  In order to make this court able to play two different sports.  Gappsi first painted the white lines on the court for tennis and then we painted the yellow lines for basketball.

We built a retaining wall and faced it with Eldorado cultured stones. The court was primed with black asphalt paint on three sides of the court, and then Gappsi installed an out-of-bounce netting that is used for both tennis and basketball court games.
