This Gunite swimming pool was built in 1960 and it lasted for about 60 years, in the last 4 years for some strange reason the pool shel started developing some cracks and got worse every year to the point that the pool totally cracked in half and started licking badly to the point of not being repareble. The cost of replacing this gunite swimming pool would have been tremendous and the clients had no budget for that. Not only the cost of redoing the pool but also the cost of removing the old pool and all the damage that would have accrued to the yard and the landscaping , irrigation fence and the entire patio would have needed to be replaced. We proposed to remodel the pool and reshape the inside to accommodate a custom vinyl liner, we added a sundeck with 12 inches of water and reshape the pool deep end to make it more with straight ankles instead of a bowl shape that it’s usually a gunite. This gunite swimming pool conversion came out very nice. We used a liner with a pattern of a terrazzo looking finish that makes the pool look like it’s a gunite pool with no border at the top. When doing a Gunite To Vinyl Conversion it’s expected that the liner might show some imperfections or some minor wrincles, the clients has to understand that a vinyl pool construction is built with angles a gunite pool is more rounded shaped inside, and the liners are a little more difficult to be measured.

Gunite Pool Lake Grove: A Backyard Transformation
Sometimes, the best way to understand what’s possible is to see a project come to life. Let’s take a closer look at one of our recent installations, a complete backyard transformation centered around a custom gunite pool in Lake Grove. This G44 design will feature a Super Blue Diamond Brite finish that makes the water sparkle. But the pool is just the beginning. Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a project of this scale typically take from start to finish? A complete backyard transformation involves several phases, from design and permits to excavation and finishing touches. The exact timeline can vary depending on the complexity of the project and the specific features you choose. We work closely with you to establish a clear and realistic schedule from the very beginning so you always know what to expect.
Why did you choose gunite for this pool, and what are its advantages? We often recommend gunite for custom pools because it offers incredible design flexibility. Since gunite is applied on-site, we can create virtually any shape, size, or depth you can imagine, easily incorporating features like built-in benches or tanning ledges. It’s also exceptionally durable, resulting in a solid, long-lasting structure.
How do you make sure separate features like the pool, waterfall, and pavilion all look like they belong together? This is where our integrated design and construction process makes all the difference. Our teams—from pool specialists to masons and landscape architects—collaborate from day one. This unified approach ensures every single element, from the patio stone to the pavilion’s placement, works together to create a cohesive and beautifully designed outdoor living space.
What is the maintenance like for a pool with a Diamond Brite finish? A Diamond Brite finish is a fantastic choice because it’s not only beautiful but also very durable and stain-resistant. Its smooth surface naturally resists algae growth, which simplifies routine cleaning. While you’ll still need to perform regular chemical balancing and brushing, the resilient finish helps keep the pool looking pristine with standard care.
Do I have to commit to a full backyard renovation, or can Gappsi handle smaller individual projects? While we love bringing large-scale transformations to life, we absolutely handle individual projects. Whether you’re looking to install a new paver patio, build a pergola, or add an outdoor kitchen to your existing space, we bring the same level of dedication and craftsmanship to every job, no matter the size.

Limestone pool patio and coping Installation G044
We are in the process of installing the patio. We are using our newest addition to the natural stone line. The G044 is a blue and white limestone with beautiful color arrangements in it. it’s been laid out in a French pattern. We installed two fire and water features, they are going to spill over into the pool after the pool is completed and running. The water fall is almost complete. Flower Beds are left here to put evergreens and create some privacy. This is where the kids are going to be diving into the pool. Once it is all completed. The slide is being installed. The pavilion is almost completed, we have to finish with the azek. The landscaping will be next, and it will be done in about two weeks. On the wall we used split face travertine veneers, the outdoor kitchen will be built in this area. We will update you next when the project is totally complete.
Dog Run Built in Babylon NY by Gappsi
For this homeowner in Babylon, NY, we built a 10×30 dog run. As you can see, the dogs love to be in the backyard, so the homeowners had to create a separate area for them to stay in. We installed this dog run with synthetic grass, surrounded by a 6 ft fence with a canopy to hold a tarp to protect them from the rain and the hot sun in the summertime. With this new area, these beautiful puppies can enjoy their home playground!
