Giving yourself time to relax is absolutely essential to both physical and mental well-being, and a family pool can contribute to both!

WHAT ARE POOL ENCLOSURES?

Pool enclosures are structures that surround your pool. They are gaining popularity for the benefits they provide, including privacy and security, protection against debris, and year-long pool enjoyment.

An indoor pool offers protection from the elements.  Pool enclosure designed to offer you the best of both worlds.  Depending on your climate and heating budget, a pool enclosure can help you extend your pool season to nine or even 12 months out of the year.

Retractable swimming pool enclosures are extremely popular. Reduced maintenance, safety benefits, and the ability to extend your pool usage all season long are some of the biggest benefits of a pool enclosure.

Retractable-Swimming-Pool-Enclosure33 TYPES OF POOL ENCLOSURES

  1. Low Enclosures – Low pool enclosures intend to protect your pool while also allowing enough height for you and your guests to swim. One can think of low enclosures as pool covers that allow you to still use your pool. They typically fit around the edge of your pool and hang 1 to 3 feet above it.
  2. Mid-Height Enclosures – Mid-Height pool enclosures intend to protect your pool without obstructing the experience for you and your guests. These types of pool enclosures typically range in height from 8 feet to 12 feet and fit around the concrete surrounding the pool. This allows pool goers to both use the pool as well as relax by it within the confines of the pool enclosure.
  3. High Enclosures – High pool enclosures provide similar benefits as mid-height pool enclosures.  They offer ample space to eliminate any feeling of confinement. These types of pool enclosures are typically 12 feet or higher and fit around the concrete surrounding the pool, similar to mid-height pool enclosures.

Retractable-Swimming-Pool-EnclosureRETRACTABLE POOL ENCLOSURE ADVANTAGES

Retractable pool enclosures combine several benefits. They allow you to open your pool and enjoy the outside weather enjoying the breeze during warm months.  While providing the option to continue using your pool during cold months. Many retractable pool enclosures are electric, making it easy to oscillate between an indoor and outdoor pool.

The ease of modern retractable pool enclosures allows you to enjoy the outdoors while using your pool but also protect it from the elements and trespassers when you’re not. Simply retract the pool enclosure when in use, and cover the pool when not in use. From a cost perspective, a low glass retractable pool enclosure may be an appealing alternative to a medium or high pool screen enclosure.

Retractable-Swimming-Pool-Enclosure1In addition to protection from the elements, pool enclosures give you a broad range of other benefits. A pool enclosure simplifies pool maintenance by providing coverage from debris. You’ll also gain protection from mosquitoes and UV rays.

POPULAR POOL ENCLOSURE TYPE

Many readily available pool enclosure options can enhance your experience and expand your pool access in any climate.

One popular type is the retractable or telescopic pool enclosure. With a retractable pool enclosure, you can open it up in pleasant weather and then cover your pool when conditions demand. Some retractable pool enclosures feature push-button convenience to cover or uncover your pool.

Retractable Pool Enclosure In Cedarhurt NY

Gappsi designed and built this backyard in Cedarhurst NY. The project included a 12 x 30 vinyl pool built with concrete walls and a retractable enclosure.  The retractable/moveable enclosures made out of aluminum framing and an epoxy glass dome. Retractable-Swimming-Pool-Enclosure2This pool will be used in the wintertime now as well as in the summer months. Gappsi installed G035 travertine for the coping and the patio selected from the Gappsi natural stone collection. Inside the extension, we built oak floors with steps and installed an Auroom Spa Sonar. Gappsi is an authorized dealer for Auroom.  The clients are very happy,

Elevate Your Home With An Outdoor Pavilion And Pool Resurfacing

Outdoor-Pavilion-And-Pool-ResurfacingElevate Your Home With An Outdoor Pavilion And Pool Resurfacing this season and enjoy more time outdoors in your home!

Every pool needs a resurfacing service eventually. Resurfacing helps enhance your pool’s brightness, fills in any holes or cracks, and helps maintain the structure of your pool.

Outdoor Pavilion And Pool Resurfacing

Resurfacing can repair problems like cracks and wear, while also enhancing and updating your pool’s appearance. While not needed as often as other services, resurfacing should still be on your list of pool maintenance tasks.  Here are four reasons it’s time to resurface your swimming pool:

  1. You notice staining – Pools can start to get discolored after years of wear and tear. These stains can come from the minerals, chemicals, or other materials in the water such as leaves and natural debris.  Check to see if the stains are algae, which will be a shade of green or even red, or another color. If your cleaning efforts are unsuccessful, it may be time to resurface the pool.
  2. Material is coming off – When your pool surface feels like sandpaper and you can see the raw gunite peeking through, it’s time to resurface your pool.  There are a lot of different factors that can cause the pool’s surface materials to break down and come off, such as years of heavy use,  unbalanced pH levels, as well as sudden damage.  Once the surface layer starts to come off, it’s only going to continue and spread. So, it’s important to have it resurfaced as soon as you notice problems.
  3. There Are Leaks – The longer you wait to repair a leak in your pool, the more it will cost. So, be on the lookout for these signs of leaks to see if it’s time to repair and resurface your pool:
♦  Wet spots of grass near the pool area
    ♦  Loose or falling tiles
♦  Cracks or gaps in the concrete
♦  Water loss is greater than the evaporation rate
  4. You’re Ready for an Update – resurfacing is more than just a way to repair and maintain your pool: It also gives you the opportunity to transform and enhance the way your pool looks.

As well as the pool coping is two inches of G043 marble coping. We installed two sheer descent waterfalls built into the columns. In addition, we installed the largest SR Smith slide between the two columns. We also installed the diving board and an all-new pavilion.  With an outdoor kitchen and a wall in the back. The refrigerator sink and a free-standing grill on the side. The inside of the pavilion is an open beam stained in mahogany color with a fan. Marble Pavers For Pool Coping And Patio

Marble-Pavers-For-Pool-Coping-And-PatioMarble Pavers For Pool Coping And Patio are one of the most preferred materials for the outdoors in homes.  Marble is timeless and when used it elevates a home’s status, value, and overall appeal. This stone paver comes in different colors, patterns, and shades suitable for any application. Homeowners prefer marble pavers for their driveways and pool decks.  This is for very good reasons that go beyond mere looks. Reputable suppliers like Gappsi provide the pavers with a tumbled finish for extra grip and a non-glossy surface that is perfect for outdoor pool areas.

Safety Is First For Pool Coping And Patio Areas

Safety is one of the reasons why marble pavers are ideal for driveways and pool decks. These places are prone to much foot and vehicular traffic.  It makes sense in high-traffic areas to ensure they are not slippery, even when wet. Tumbled marble pavers are able to cater to that.  At the same time, the material enhances the beauty of those places making them look more opulent as well as inviting. The density of the rock makes it capable of withstanding heavy vehicles, too.

Marble Paver Advantages

Gappsi highly recommends sealing our strongest sandblasted marbles for enhancement, but most importantly to resist stains or fading.

Marble pavers resist bacteria, preventing any harmful elements from thriving in the pool area. Tumbled marble pavers provide a strong grip to prevent slipping and falling incidents.

Since ancient times, artists have been using marble for creating sculptures not just because of the beauty of this material but also because of its durability. When you use marble pavers, you don’t have to worry about changing them for the years to come. Indeed, it is a great investment.

Marble-Pavers-For-Pool-Coping-And-Patio1Pool Covers For Safety And Efficiency

Gappsi retractable pool covers are opaque and completely block out sunlight while the pool is closed. Sunlight exposure makes sanitizing chemicals like chlorine break down more quickly in the water, as well as contributes to the growth of algae.

Marble-Pavers-For-Pool-Coping-And-Patio2Pool Cover Maintenance Tips

♦  TIP 1: KEEP WATER & DEBRIS OFF YOUR POOL COVER
Our first tip for auto pool cover maintenance is to clear the cover of any debris before uncovering your pool. You can do this either by hand, if you’re able to reach it, or with a garden hose. Never use something stronger than a garden hose, such as a power sprayer, because you risk tearing your cover. If there’s a significant amount of rainwater on top of your cover, your pump will do an efficient job of removing it.

♦  TIP 2: UNCOVER YOUR POOL DAILY
In the summer months, it’s likely you’re using your pool often so it’s being uncovered on a daily basis. If you aren’t using your pool often, it is still a good idea to uncover your pool daily for a couple of hours, especially if you’ve just added chemicals.

This is an important part of cover maintenance because gasses created by the pool chemicals need to escape in order for the water to be safe to swim in.

♦  TIP 3: INSPECT TRACKS BUT LEAVE IT TO THE EXPERTS AT GAPPSI
We recommend during auto pool cover maintenance keep an eye on the cover tracks. Leave any major issues to the experts at Gappsi, but if you’re able to catch something small early on, it’s usually an easy fix.

Visually look to see if the cover is running straight. If it’s not, reverse the direction and run it approximately 5’-10’, then proceed to run it back in the direction you intended to go.

♦  TIP 4: GET INSPECTED ANNUALLY
Pool cover maintenance really does not require a lot, as long as you’re getting it inspected on a regular basis. It is recommended to get your cover inspected once a year. Whether you choose to get it inspected at the beginning of the summer, or at the end is up to you.

Patio Pool And Fire Pit Paver Design

Patio-Pool-And-Fire-Pit-Paver-Design3The patio, pool, and fire pit paver design are backyard staples and make an excellent addition to any home. Have you ever been hit with the cool air as you were climbing out of the swimming pool? Did it make you think about jumping back in to get warm again?  If you answered yes then you know what we’re talking about.

While shivering in a towel is a small price to pay for swimming in less-than-ideal weather, we want you to know that it doesn’t have to be this way. In fact, getting out of the pool can be just as pleasant as getting in.

A fire pit is a perfect spot to warm up after your swim, and it creates a great entertainment center for family and guests.  Fire pits can be used year-round in many climates. They also take up a relatively small footprint, making them a good option for large and small spaces alike.

Many fire pits that you see are above-ground fire pits, they retain a wall or barrier around the fire on all or most sides.  They are usually at least a foot high, but they can be up to 20 inches high on one or more sides.  In addition, fire pits are built to sit slightly below the seating area, but if you want to sit on the edge of the fire pit rather than on chairs or benches, your fire pit should be around 18 to 20 inches high.

The Freeform Vinyl Pool

The freeform pool shape can incorporate dramatic curves for a modern look or maximize available swimming space with a more relaxed wavy design. If you’re looking for a more fun, informal, natural-looking pool shape, the freeform pool design is your best choice.

  • Patio-Pool-And-Fire-Pit-Paver-Design2Design Benefits: Organic freeform shape seamlessly integrates features and add-ons.
  • Common Features: Customize your freeform swimming pool with a tanning ledge, swim-up seating, and slip-resistant steps.
  • Considerations: Freeform pools are available in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and styles and can work with any backyard design.

Sandblasted Marble Pavers

Sandblasted Marble Pavers offer an elegant feel to your home with a blend of cream and taupe hues. The pavers enhance any outdoor space and are great for patio decks, pathways, driveways, outdoor steps, and pool decks.  Stone is a product of nature and will vary in color, marking, and texture.

Marble Pavers are high quality, durable, and resistant to heat and pressure. Marble is a type of limestone that is formed after being exposed to extreme pressure and temperatures. The texture of the stone is sandblasted, which provides a non-slippery finish. Being a natural stone, marble remains cool to the touch, even on a hot day.  As the temperature rises, it’s the perfect time to hop into the pool. However, it’s important to make sure that your pool has the right pool deck to offer an eye-catching way to make sure your pool fits into your landscape and that you have a nice place to dry off and hang out around the pool.

Patio-Pool-And-Fire-Pit-Paver-Design1There are pros & cons to any material you use as a pool deck or otherwise around your home.

  1. Beautiful stone material – You can rely on marble for a bit of natural beauty around your pool.
  2. Range of marble colors – A marble pool deck is available in a variety of stone colors. You can find marble in colors such as shades of brown, cream, and silver.
  3. Cool surface to walk on – Marble stays fairly cool. This means that even when you’re enjoying a dip in the pool during the hottest part of the day, you won’t have to worry as much about hurting your feet on a hot pool deck.
  4. Durable & weather resistant – Marble is also highly sought after because it’s a durable material. Another great part of using marble is that it’s weather-resistant which means that you won’t see damage from use outside over the years.
  5. Increase home property value – Having a pool already boosts your property value but using marble as a pool deck tends to add property value as well. It can be a gain in property value compared to other pool deck materials.

Not everything about marble can be positive. Like any other material, there are a few drawbacks to marble.

  1. High-cost material – A con of marble actually relates to the last pro we brought up. As a luxury item, marble can increase your property value but it comes at a higher cost than some other material options. Luckily, the good news is that the added property value can help mitigate this upfront cost.
  2. Marble can stain – Beware of staining your marble pool deck since it is a porous material. For a pool deck, this isn’t usually a problem but if you host pool parties with food and drinks, for example, it’s a good idea to try to avoid spills and clean up any directly after they happen.

Pool Bubbler Design Ideas, Inspiration & Considerations.

Pool bubblers are a popular water feature for many pool owners, because of the tranquility and peace created by the water.  It also helps the Pool Bubbletrs are attractive to look at too!  We see a request for pool bubblers also when there is a spa attached to the pool. Bubblers are small fountains that create water columns in shallow areas of your pool. They are commonly used on shallow shelves, spas, and pool steps. Below, I’ll walk through some of the main benefits and watch-outs of pool bubblers.

Main Benefits

Outside of being pretty to look at, bubblers provide a few additional benefits for your pool.

  • Sound Blocking – Bubblers can be a great sound blocker for noisy neighbors or a busy street in front of your house. The rush of the water has a wonderful calming effect, much like a waterfall or spillover.
  • Cooling Down Water – Bubblers and many other water features are also great for cooling down your pool water. The rush of the water out of the column keeps your pool water moving, introducing oxygen into your water and reducing the temperature. This is a blessing for those shallow pool areas if you live in a hot climate. Bubblers can help keep that water cool and enjoyable.
  • Aesthetics – When it comes to design, the surrounding environment of your pool is almost as important as the pool itself. If you have a lot of natural landscaping around your pool, bubblers can be a great way to keep that zen feeling that your trees and other greenery help establish.

Hydrazzo-Pool-Plaster-In-Gulfstream-BlueTypes of Swimming Pool Bubblers

Bubblers don’t really come in too many varieties. You can have different water stream widths and color lighting or automation.

The plaster to finish the interior of the pool is the Hydrazzo Gulfstream quartz color and the interior is finished with an acid wash and then polished.  The pool is also equipped with an autocover in charcoal gray. The patio installation consists of G038 marble pavers selected from the Gappsi stone collection and marble coping 2 inches thick for the pool coping and the spa coping.
